The Tribeca Festival has revealed plans for its second annual event in Lisbon, Portugal, taking place from October 30 to November 1, 2025, as announced on Tuesday.
After the initial event in 2024, the European edition will be a collaboration between Tribeca Enterprises, Lisbon city, SIC – a Portuguese broadcaster, and a local Opto streamer. The second year’s festival will offer a blend of independent American films, Portuguese movies, TV shows, podcasts, and music performances, along with industry-related programming.

The European edition, set to debut in 2024 following its inaugural event, is the result of a joint effort between Tribeca Enterprises, Lisbon city, SIC – a Portuguese broadcaster, and an Opto streamer based locally. The second annual festival will present a diverse lineup that includes U.S. indie films, Portuguese movies, TV series, podcasts, and music performances, in addition to industry-focused programming.
In the previous year, the city of Lisbon warmly embraced Tribeca, providing us with a second home filled with creativity and forward-thinking ideas. This upcoming year, we’re overjoyed to make our return for the second edition of the Tribeca Festival Lisboa,” said Jane Rosenthal, co-founder and CEO of Tribeca Enterprises, expressing her excitement about the festival serving as a global stage for local films to reach international viewers.
Tribeca feels that cities thrive when they nurture their artistic communities, and this collaboration holds special significance for us. We’re proud to extend our worldwide stage to showcase the city’s exceptional artists,” Rosenthal stated. The first Tribeca Festival Lisboa kicked off featuring the Academy Award-winning film, “Anora.
In a statement, Francisco Pedro Balsemao, the CEO of Impresa, expressed his delight about the return of the first Tribeca Festival Lisboa, which was an extraordinary and distinctive event for Portuguese viewers last year. He looks forward to strengthening the talent, enhancing the content quality, and providing memorable discussions at this year’s event. He thanked Bob, Jane, and the entire Tribeca team for their steadfast collaboration, and is excited to embark on a fresh and exhilarating journey with them.” This is in line with the original statement from Robert De Niro, co-founder of Tribeca.
Carlos Moedas, the mayor of Lisbon, expressed his excitement about hosting a renowned event at the Unicorn Factory. This not only showcases the city’s vibrant artistic spirit but also cements Lisbon as a significant player on the global cultural stage. It’s a privilege to have Tribeca return, and we eagerly anticipate the valuable encounters it will provide for our community.
Previously, the international tour of Tribeca involved a collaboration with the Doha Film Institute in Qatar to organize the Doha Tribeca Film Festival for a span of four years starting from 2009. More recently, Tribeca has expanded its horizons beyond its origins in New York City and now hosts yearly events in Los Angeles and Miami as well.
