In a recent disclosure, Robert Pattinson shared that his fellow actor Zendaya had to help calm him down when he became unusually anxious before shooting a scene for director Kristoffer Borgli’s upcoming A24 film “The Drama.” This movie centers around a couple whose relationship undergoes an unexpected change as they prepare for their wedding day. Pattinson confessed that he developed cold feet prior to filming, as he became overly concerned with the script’s dialogue, fearing that he was missing a more profound meaning that would impact the scene significantly.
Robert Pattinson appears to be deeply attuned to his feelings, as evidenced by his admission that he finds certain films too emotionally intense to watch. In an interview with Premiere magazine, published on IndieWire, the multi-talented actor detailed how he became overwhelmed before filming a scene for “The Drama,” leading him to contact Zendaya for support. However, as he clarified in his conversation with the publication, it was not a profound issue; instead, she provided a straightforward explanation that helped him regain his equilibrium.
I found myself in a confusing situation with you, and I spent hours trying to decipher its significance, writing extensive analyses. In the end, I reached out to Zendaya the night before filming our scene. I expressed my concerns to her, and we talked for two hours. Eventually, she reassured me that the line was straightforward and didn’t have any hidden meanings. It turns out I had been overthinking things for three days.
The film titled “The Drama” was officially unveiled in August 2024. Borgli, who also wrote the script, will be directing this production. A24, known for its powerful presence in indie cinema, has bankrolled and produced the movie. Ari Aster, Lars Knudsen, and Tyler Campellone are producing under their Square Peg label, extending a fruitful collaboration that has yielded box office successes such as “Hereditary” and “Midsommar”. This year, they have several other films in the pipeline, but “The Drama” is considered a key project for A24.
Writer-Director Kristoffer Borgli Knows How to Tell a Twisted Tale
Previously, Borgli directed the unconventional comedy-drama titled “Dream Scenario”, featuring Nicolas Cage as a beleaguered family man experiencing life-altering events when people mysteriously start seeing him in their dreams. This film, co-produced by A24 and Square Peg alongside Saturn Films, initially premiered in select theaters in November 2023 before broadening its reach. The movie received favorable feedback from both critics and audiences, primarily for its captivating lead performances.
Apart from that, he was also responsible for writing the screenplay for the 2022 dark comedy “Sick of Myself” produced by A24, which was his second feature film as a director. This movie provides a comical perspective on a relationship between two highly competitive individuals, but things take a sinister turn when one of them gains recognition as a modern artist. Moreover, Borgli has recently agreed to direct “The Shards” for HBO, based on the suspenseful and gripping serial killer novel by Bret Easton Ellis with the same name. It will be intriguing to see how intense the drama in “The Drama” unfolds when it finally makes its way to our screens.
