Among the highly anticipated films set for release in 2025, one that’s generating a lot of buzz isn’t linked to Marvel or the next installment of Avatar, but rather Disney’s live-action version of the timeless tale, Snow White. As of now, it’s uncertain how the public will receive this film, but one thing is certain – Gal Gadot’s eldest daughters are definitely keeping a close eye on its development.
Gadot plays the Evil Queen in the new Snow White opposite Rachel Zegler as the title character. Appearing on GMA, the actress talked about her two eldest daughters, who had very different reactions to finding out their mom, who had once been Wonder Woman, was now going to be the bad guy. I shared with them that I’d be making a film of Snow White, and they were thrilled. Then Alma inquired about who would be playing the character, to which Maya responded, “Snow White?” I clarified, “No, I’ll be portraying the Evil Queen.” Maya reacted with surprise, and it was quite dramatic. On the other hand, Alma showed approval with a grin. Both reactions were unique in their own way.
One can grasp that a child might not appreciate it when their mother portrays a villain. Typically, Gadot has taken on heroic roles, and ideally, kids will always view their parents as heroes. However, actors frequently find playing the antagonist more entertaining, and a 13-year-old, being older, might be mature enough to recognize this.
In the classic animated film “Snow White,” it’s hard not to find the Evil Queen more captivating than Snow White herself. The preview for “Snow White” hints that the Evil Queen will even have at least one musical number, and a great villain song in a Disney movie can really elevate the film.
Indeed, the Wicked Queen from the original “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” was said to be so fearsome that children watching it in the theater supposedly became scared enough to wet themselves. Given this, it’s not surprising if someone’s child finds the Evil Queen unsettling. I must admit that I may have unintentionally frightened one of my own kids during our visit to Disneyland on the Snow White ride.

The success of Snow White at the box office is currently uncertain. Whether the film will be well-received or not remains to be seen, but if Gal Gadot delivers an outstanding performance as the Evil Queen, it could boost the latest Disney live-action remake into a successful movie.
