In a recent chat with ANI, Shabana Azmi discussed her latest web series, Dabba Cartel. During this discussion, she touched on her powerful character and the themes of feminism and gender equality. Offering her perspective on these issues, Azmi stated, “A woman experiences the world through a distinctly feminine perspective. This is something that everyone – men and women alike – should comprehend.

In an interview, the actress from Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani shared insights about her past and the unique environment she grew up in, a commune that offered equal opportunities for women. Later on, she acknowledged that her upbringing was not the norm but rather an exception to the deeply patriarchal society we live in today. “Sadly, society continues to be dominated by men, and women often unknowingly tolerate such infringements,” Azmi stated emphatically.

Returning to Dabba Cartel, this Netflix series highlights the lives and hardships of a band of women managing a traditional lunchbox operation. However, their seemingly innocent service unexpectedly becomes intertwined with a drug cartel. As they transport illegal goods using their unassuming business, they encounter criminals, law enforcement officials, and numerous other challenges. Besides Azmi, the series features Jyotika, Shalini Pandey, Nimisha Sajayan, and Anjali Anand in significant roles.
