For several years, Justin Hartley has been captivating television audiences. Regardless of which role is cherished by fans of the actor – personally, I admire his portrayal of Kevin Pearson in NBC’s highly acclaimed series “This Is Us” – Hartley himself takes great pride in a particular moment from his career that surprisingly doesn’t involve the Green Arrow suit he donned on the DC super-drama “Smallville”.
Hartley revealed some intriguing facts about himself to Us Weekly, details that even his most devoted fans might not be aware of. Among these tidbits, the star of ‘Tracker’ proudly pointed out what he considers the highlight of his career. Interestingly enough, this notable achievement is directly linked to the CBS drama that reappeared in the 2025 TV lineup in February.
One of my most fulfilling career experiences was collaborating with Ken Olin to develop Tracker from scratch, and witnessing the faith others had in us to fund its production. The enthusiasm from viewers who appreciate, enjoy, and connect with it is truly humbling. It’s a feeling you never anticipate experiencing, but watching it unfold has been extraordinary.
The action-packed TV show based on the 2019 novel “The Never Game” has been brought to life on screen. It centers around Colter Shaw (Hartley), an accomplished survivalist who assists both law enforcement and private citizens in finding missing individuals and resolving crimes. The first season was well received, securing a swift renewal for Season 2, and as of February 2025, it has been approved for a third season.
On the program, Hartley assumes two roles: he acts as the principal character and is additionally one of the leading executive producers, sharing this position with showrunner Ken Olin. This is a first for Hartley, who has been involved in television production since his acting career took off in the early 2000s.
It’s not surprising that Hartley’s initial venture into television production surpasses his time as Green Arrow in Smallville. However, I’m confident fans of the superhero series might have a different opinion. Still, it’s worth noting that Hartley genuinely enjoyed his role as the superhero.
Indeed, during the same interview, the actor known as Tracker expressed his desire to portray a superhero once more, possibly an older version of Green Arrow. Should DC decline this opportunity, I have no doubt that Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) would be thrilled to have the Daytime Emmy nominee on board. Here’s hoping we won’t have to wait much longer to catch him in an upcoming superhero film with MCU!
Currently, Hartley finds himself swamped by the demanding weekly schedule of the series “Tracker,” where the entire crew is filming an action-packed episode each week. He admits it’s something he thought was impossible, yet it’s evidently propelling the show forward, as its ratings skyrocketed at year-end 2024. This contrasts with many other CBS shows that didn’t experience similar growth.
On Sundays at 8 p.m. Eastern Time (ET), you can tune in to CBS to watch the latest episodes of Tracker. If you prefer streaming, make sure you have an active subscription to Paramount+.
