If you haven’t heard yet, the much-anticipated movie adaptation of the game “Minecraft” is coming to theaters soon! The filming for the live-action version has already been completed and it’s scheduled to be released in April 2025. Now that we’ve got that out of the way, let’s discuss something exciting: popcorn buckets! With the stunning “Wicked” buckets and the infamous NSFW “Dune” containers as tough competitors, these “Minecraft” ones are incredibly cute.
The Minecraft-themed popcorn buckets, unveiled by @DiscussingFilm on X, are quite impressive, even surprising me with one of the designs. As suggested by the intense Minecraft trailer, it seems that the iconic TNT block will likely be significant in Jack Black and other human characters overcoming the piglin hordes from the Netherworld (I’m just as puzzled as you are). The second design, though, is something you should see for yourself.
In a different phrasing: I believe they had numerous options when designing the block bucket, but the TNT is more like a fire extinguisher. Unlike the adorable, yet unremarkable Jurassic World Gyrosphere buckets, this Minecraft snack container stands out clearly. It’s also versatile once you finish eating and reach the bottom; it can store various items, unlike the Moana nacho boat…kudos to them for the innovative design though.
This second concept took me by surprise, I must confess. It’s much more specialized than TNT, catering to devoted fans. Upon seeing its image, it appears as if a zombie is riding a chicken, and indeed that’s what it is. In gaming terminology, this is known as a “chicken jockey,” which occurs when a newborn zombie lands on a chicken. The odds of this happening in the servers are about 5%, but I reckon it will definitely appear in the movie considering the popcorn bucket design.
1. You don’t need any knowledge about chicken jockeys to appreciate this merchandise, and I suspect many parents may reluctantly purchase this peculiar item for their enthusiastic 7-year-old child.
2. The popcorn machine seems to be designed so that you eat the popcorn out of its zombie-like head, and it’s about time they experience a taste of their own medicine.
I’m not exactly certain when the fad of themed $25 snack merchandise connected to movies will conclude, but I can assure you it will be exploited until there’s nothing left. Just a heads-up, no one is compelled to purchase these items. However, if I invest in that reusable Captain America shield bucket, rest assured I’ll be pulling it out for every Marvel film I watch to make the most of my investment.
Don’t forget to watch the “Minecraft Movie” in cinemas from April 4 onwards. Keep a lookout for popular characters such as the chicken jockeys, and enjoy your popcorn from their head-shaped containers!
