Warning: spoilers for Matlock Season 1, Episode 15 – “Game Face,” are in session.
To my fellow fans of Matlock, it appears that the storyline centered around the Slamm’d class action lawsuit trilogy has come to an end. With just three episodes left in Season 1 according to the 2025 TV schedule, the case that seemed most deeply personal for Kathy Bates’ character as a legal double agent reached its conclusion.
Just as expected from this Emmy-winning show, it ended with an unexpected turn of events that leaves us in suspense for the following fortnight. Since our next episode won’t air until April 3rd, let’s cherish tonight’s significant developments before they slip away.
Madeline Kingston Had A Surprising Mole Inside Jacobson Moore From The Beginning
A shrewd hint from not long ago paved the way for an astonishing discovery that took everyone, including Mrs. Kingston and subscribers of Paramount+, completely by surprise. It seems that the initial clue suggesting Jacobson Moore’s involvement in masking Welbrexa’s responsibility for Ellie Kingston’s (and others’) death originated from a Reddit user called “Read_‘em_and_Weep31.” However, we will refer to her as Patricia Belcher in this context.
Instead of leaving it with the file room guardian who Matty has consistently worked with during her entire journey as an active citizen aiming to do good, we can say that the responsibility lies with this individual, whom Matty has collaborated extensively with throughout her campaign for public service. This makes perfect sense since the “Matlock’s” mystery structure, with its weekly twists, is now aligning all the hints dropped in Season 1, leading us to this resolution.
Some of you might ponder if Matlock‘s first season could have moved faster had we known certain things from the start, but I’d strongly disagree for two reasons. Initially, Madeline Kingston and her family managed to gather substantial evidence to be sent to the New York Times, thereby stirring up a hornet’s nest of legal issues with as much ammunition as possible.
Additionally, it seems to me that this situation serves as an illustration of considering a timeframe significantly shorter than Matlock initially had for its debut. Given the decreasing number of series managing even a fraction of the traditional 20-24 network season length, having 18 episodes in your first season is quite fortunate. Essentially, I’m telling you that your argument has been disregarded, but be advised that you’re walking on thin ice here in this courtroom.

Where Matlock’s Welbrexa Mystery Currently Stands
In other words, it seems that the recent twist in the Matlock series has led us to discover that the elusive document was actually a concealed report showing that Welbrexa medication becomes addictive when it is crushed from its time-release capsule.
Thanks to Skye P. Marshall (Olympia Lawrence) and her class action lawsuit against the alcohol company Slamm’d, it has been revealed that any modification in a product’s warning label is typically supported by a scientific study that substantiates this change.

To enjoy all episodes of the Matlock‘s Welbrexa mystery, consider subscribing to Paramount+, which costs only $7.99 per month or $79.99 annually. If you prefer an ad-free experience and access to Showtime content as well, opt for the Premium Plan at $12.99 monthly. Check out this deal today!
What wasn’t found in the Welbrexa records was the study that resulted in the warning label stating “Avoid crushing tablets; it causes quick release and absorption.” Madeline Kingston interpreted this as an opportunity for drug abusers, leading to a surge in addiction and sales numbers.
During Matlock’s two-week hiatus, several questions arise. Primarily, we wonder about the upcoming encounter between Mrs. Belvin and Mrs. Kingston in the park, and its outcome. Moreover, with Olympia showing signs of ruthless behavior again, could she truly be a formidable adversary for Jacobson Moore? Lastly, to add a bit of levity, one might ponder if the character played by Julie Hagerty, Bitsy, will eventually become a series regular.
Instead of openly expressing my hope for the situation to unfold as I wish, given that Yael Grobglas’ character became Matlock’s latest suspect after my previous preference for Shae Banfield, I choose to remain silent temporarily. For the moment, all I can do is mention that these events have led to a two-week break, resuming at 9 p.m. ET on CBS on Thursday, April 3. By the way, this week’s developments have given me an idea for another week of fan fiction focusing on Matty and Senior under the influence of edibles in their zero-gravity chairs.
