With the announcement that “The Beekeeper 2” is moving forward, fans of the genre are thrilled and eagerly suggesting martial arts legend Iko Uwais to join Jason Statham in the upcoming sequel. Taking to social media, enthusiasts of Statham are urging “The Beekeeper 2’s” director to collaborate with Uwais once more, as expressed by Twitter user @Dedikur21 who tweeted, “Please work together again and cast Iko Uwais in ‘Beekeeper 2’. Make a worthy sequel for these two.
In the year 2023, Jason Statham and Iko Uwais have previously appeared together on screen, trading blows in the film “Expend4bles”. Regrettably, despite their dedication to fighting each other until one was defeated, both the movie and the fight scene fell short of expectations. Since gaining fame from his roles in “The Raid” and “The Raid 2”, Hollywood has had difficulty finding suitable roles for Iko Uwais (which may be why the actor and martial artist is now taking control of his career beyond the US).
Regarding the proposal, Tjahjanto – previously collaborated with Uwais on the bloodthirsty Netflix film “The Night Comes for Us” – replied succinctly, “The Beetawi.” Casting Uwais alongside The Stath in “The Beekeeper 2” seems like an ideal fit, as the idea of “The Raid” actor pursuing Statham as a rival assassin “beekeeper” in this sequel is almost irresistible.
Jason Statham vs. Iko Uwais in ‘The Beekeeper 2’ Would Be an Action Dream Come True
In January 2024, the debut of “The Beekeeper” introduces Statham as Adam Clay, a beekeeper turned relentless seeker of vengeance when his friend is swindled and tragically lost. However, it’s not long before we discover that Statham’s character isn’t just an ordinary beekeeper – he was once part of a covert, powerful organization called “Beekeepers.” As for “The Beekeeper 2,” plot specifics are being kept secret, but it’s expected to provide further insights into the enigmatic group of assassins.
Although it’s unclear if Timo Tjahjanto is contemplating having Iko Uwais join the cast, or who will co-star alongside Statham, the prospect of The Raid star battling The Stath in The Beekeeper 2 is undoubtedly something that action enthusiasts eagerly anticipate. As @RamaIvander puts it, “Yes sir, seriously, they deserve a good fight,” and @Louiepizzle agrees, exclaiming, “That would be amazing!!”. Fellow action and Uwais fans such as @MegaSting1981 urge for more of Iko in films, while @thornecr4wley calls for a redemption after the underwhelming Expendables 4, stating, “But seriously though man, please bring Iko to fight Statham with better direction from you. Their fight in Expendables 4 was extremely disappointing.
In the meantime, as we eagerly anticipate new developments on “The Beekeeper 2”, Jason Statham takes center stage once more in this month’s pulse-pounding action thriller, “A Working Man”. David Ayer, director of “The Beekeeper”, guides this project, with a screenplay penned by Sylvester Stallone, and adapted from Chuck Dixon’s 2014 novel “Levon’s Trade”. Amazon MGM Studios is set to release “A Working Man” on March 28. The film features Jason Statham as a former Royal Marines commando who seeks tranquility in a construction job, but is drawn back into action when a young girl disappears and he’s asked to use his skills to find her.
