However, to initiate some of these, you must first fulfill certain prerequisites and follow specific procedures. For instance, one quest called Ars Dimicatoria can be started by conversing with Master Menhard.

First off, this mission isn’t immediately visible on your map. To spot it, you should engage the innkeeper in Kuttenberg City and inquire about any new tasks. Only then will a fresh side quest pop up on your map. Here, we’ll walk you through an effortless way to complete it.

How To Start The Ars Dimicatoria Quest

As an enthusiastic explorer, I can share with you a tip on how to embark on the captivating tale of Ars Dimicatoria. Begin by engaging the innkeeper nestled in the northwest corner of Kuttenberg City. Inquire about any recent news, and lo and behold, he’ll regale you with tales of Master Menhard. Then, set your sights on the eastern side of the city, where a new quest marker will materialize. Follow it to find and converse with the enigmatic Menhard himself. Happy adventuring!

Engage in the duel and let him be your opponent until one of us lands some blows or gets hit. In the midst of this fight, others might interrupt, forcing a pause. Subsequently, you’ll face a test to deescalate the situation. Regardless of whether you pass or not, rest assured that the storyline will advance in the same manner.

Even if Menhard is banished from the town, the quest won’t have any effect, so talk to him.

How To Steal Kuttenberg Brotherhood’s Sword

During your conversation with Menhard, he might request you to purloin the Kuttenberg brotherhood’s sword. This task is particularly challenging since the gates en route to the sword are secured with locks that require either a high or extremely high level of skill in lockpicking.

To successfully pilfer the sword under cover of darkness, it would be beneficial to first consume a powerful swift-fingered elixir. This concoction will make it a breeze to pick even the most challenging locks, as if they were butter. You can obtain this potion from an apothecary located within Kuttenberg City.

Instead of attempting to pick the tough lock on the front door, consider entering via the back door. Although the back door is often difficult to unlock, during midday, it remains unlocked.

Locate the door positioned to your starboard side, give it a gentle push to reveal its secrets. The prize you seek – a resplendent sword – adorns the eastern wall atop a table. Be bold and seize this treasure. Post acquisition, consult your map for guidance, then engage with the nearby wall to deposit your newfound weapon in its designated spot.

Should you be discovered in the vicinity or found guilty of theft of the sword, it will become public knowledge, potentially putting your party at a significant disadvantage during the duels. If apprehended/spotted, this action could lead to a ban on armor usage for you and your allies during the duels, significantly increasing the risks involved.

First, return to Menhard; following that, join him in fast-traveling to the town hall. Assist him in duels as he requests, and in return, you’ll have a chance to join the swordfighting brotherhood. To do so, you’ll need to defeat Menhard if you haven’t already done so previously, and then take an oath.

After completing everything, wait for exactly 24 hours, then inform him that you’re prepared for the challenges. If he asks you to hold off, wait another full day and approach him again.

How To Win The Duels

Following a short scene, the battles will kick off. Menhard will initiate the fight, so bide your time and wait for your chance. When it’s your turn, move towards the corner marked yellow. As soon as the battle begins, draw your sword and engage in combat. Your initial opponents, Linhart and Emmeram, shouldn’t present any difficulties at all.

As Menhard is a master swordsman, you can learn quite a few things from him.

If they seem rather feeble, aim to quickly overwhelm them by focusing on deflecting their attacks and stringing together combos. Additionally, utilize the Master Strike to inflict substantial damage.

Keep an eye out for your formidable adversary, Master Nicolas. While he’s no match for Henry when he’s ravenous, he’s still a formidable opponent. Be cautious not to attack him from the side opposite his sword, as he’s adept at using Master Strike in return. Also, be prepared for his swift counterattacks, so tread carefully.

Your approach should primarily involve blocking and counterattacking, but if you’re certain about your Master Strike timing, go for it. Defeat him, then wait for three days – feel free to work on other quests or simply fast-forward time. Afterward, converse with Menhard, and the quest will be concluded. He’ll extend an offer of his longsword and a permanent lodging at Swordfighting Hall as a reward. Following the completion of Ars Dimicatoria, you can immediately initiate the Kuttenberg Tournament quest.
