Many consider Green Book to be one of the least deserving Best Picture winners in the past 25 years, and Lee was not shy about voicing his disapproval of the film. It’s fair to say that most people would have preferred if either Black Panther or BlacKkKlansman had won the Best Picture award instead.

Since his breakthrough debut in Fruitvale Station, Ryan Coogler has been recognized as a significant new talent in the directing world, with movies like Creed, Black Panther, and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever propelling his career to greater heights.
