Amazon’s upcoming
series has received a surprising update from actor Lukas Haas, who has suggested that viewers may find two different viewing experiences available to them when the series finally arrives on Prime Video. Living up to its name, Haas has suggested that, as well as being able to watch the unconventional superhero show starring
in color, there is a chance that a “noir” black and white version will be released as well.
Compared to network television, streaming opens many options up when it comes to how shows are put into the world, including the ability to vary episode lengths, episode counts, and how many versions are released. Speaking to ComingSoon, Haas said of the upcoming Marvel-based series:
“It was just an incredible project. Everybody involved was amazing. Brendan Gleason, he plays my boss. Just getting to, to do that noir thing. It was very genuine film noir, the way they filmed it, like the long shadows.
“We filmed it in — I think it may come out in both black and white and color, but when we filmed it, the monitors were all black and white, so you got this feeling and it looked very, very authentic. To the point that I would actually go and look at the monitor and think I was looking at some older footage, but it was actually just a monitor of what was on the camera at the time. They did a beautiful job with the filters and all that stuff, making it look like genuine old 1930s, black and white film. But obviously, just the writing, and Nic is incredible. It’s just a really fun project and I cannot wait to see how it turns out.”
What Do We Know About ‘Spider-Noir’?
The Spider-Noir series is probably one of the most unexpected comic book projects to have been announced in the last decade. Landing at Prime Video, the show comes with an incredible cast, including Cage, who leads as the titular character, no doubt bringing his unique and inimitable style to proceedings. Cage is joined by Lamorne Morris, Brendan Gleeson, Li Jun Li, Abraham Popoola, Jack Huston, and Karen Rodriguez.
The series is helmed by co-showrunners Oren Uziel and Steve Lightfoot. The production is a collaborative effort between Sony Pictures Television, Lord Miller Productions, Pascal Pictures, and Amazon MGM Studios. Filming began in mid-2024, and finally concluded in February 2025, during which time several set images appeared online, giving fans just a glimpse of what they can expect to see when the show rolls out.
If nothing else, the casting of Cage in the lead role is generating a lot of excitement among fans, given his remarkable late-care career revival. In recent years, he has produced some of the highest-rated films from the past four decades. With movies such as “Longlegs” and “The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent,” “Spider-Noir” could be an unexpected pinnacle in his acting career, as he continues to churn out hit after hit.
