BitmoLab has recently revealed an updated version of their GameBaby product. The GameBaby is a unique iPhone case that converts your phone into a vintage gaming console, reminiscent of the classic Game Boy. It was first introduced in September 2024 and drew inspiration from the traditional Game Boy design, providing a sense of nostalgia while still catering to modern smartphones.
This latest iteration of the GameBaby features upgraded materials, replacing the previous plastic-and-silicone combination with a sturdier mix of metal and silicone. Along with improved durability, the case now sports a refreshed colour scheme, giving it a sleek, modern look while maintaining its retro appeal.
Designed for the iPhone 15 Pro Max and iPhone 16 Pro Max, the GameBaby offers more than just protection. Its lower section functions as a detachable controller, mimicking the layout of classic 16-bit consoles from the early ‘90s.
When it’s time to play, you simply snap the controller onto the front of your phone, creating a physical interface that enhances the retro gaming experience. Once you’re done, it easily re-attaches to the back, returning your device to its full-screen functionality without compromising its protection.
Of course, the controller is pretty much useless if it lacks compatibility. Thankfully, the GameBaby can be used with popular emulators like Delta, allowing you to access and play thousands of classic titles. Whether you’re revisiting childhood favourites or exploring retro games for the first time, the controller’s tactile buttons provide a more authentic experience compared to touchscreen controls.
In addition to its gaming functions, GameBaby remains both fashionable and functional, boasting an attractive phone case design. You’ll also have peace of mind knowing that it provides dependable protection from bumps and scratches as you reminisce about the iconic handheld systems you used to play with in your childhood.
The GameBaby is expected to begin shipping sometime mid-to-late March. If you’re interested, you can pick it up for an early bird price of $24.99. Visit the official website for more information.
