Maika Monroe Set to Star in Colleen Hoover Adaptation ‘Reminders of Him’

Actress Maika Monroe, who gained widespread fame from the horror blockbuster “Longlegs” released last year, has secured her role in the upcoming movie “Reminders of Him,” which is a film adaptation of the popular novel by Colleen Hoover, published by Universal Pictures.

Vanessa Caswell, the director of the Netflix romantic drama “Love at First Sight” featuring Haley Lu Richardson, is now in charge of a romantic drama being produced by Universal.

Universal characterizes the adaptation as a “moving, transformative movie centered around motherhood, mercy, and the extraordinary ability of love to mend the most broken of hearts.

A Hoover-penned book, famous for “It Ends With Us,” narrates the story of Keena Rowan, a young mother grappling with turmoil who seeks a second chance at life following a devastating error. This bestseller has surpassed 6 million sales within the United States alone.

Together, Hoover and Lauren Levine penned the screenplay. They’re jointly overseeing the project via their production house, Heartbones Entertainment. Additionally, Gina Matthews is involved in the production process as well, doing so under her own company, Little Engine Productions.

Robin Fisichella is executive producing.

Director of production development Christine Sun will oversee the project for the studio.

Despite already having a successful career with her thrillers and horror films, Monroe experienced a major breakthrough last year with the release of “Longlegs”, which turned out to be the highest-grossing independent movie of the year and propelled her to the upper echelon of Hollywood’s most sought-after actresses. Currently, she has completed filming for “The Hand That Rocks the Cradle” with 20th Century Studios.

Monroe is repped by WME, Entertainment 360, and Felker Toczek.
