As a dedicated cinephile and LEGO enthusiast, I’ve been consistently amazed by the intricate sets LEGO has produced, drawing from some of the most iconic intellectual properties such as the Avengers Tower and various Lord of the Rings scenes. The Marvel Cinematic Universe sets have particularly resonated with fans, given their meticulous recreation of memorable battles, landscapes, and characters. Detailed replications have always been the USP of these LEGO creations. However, the latest LEGO set inspired by a pivotal moment in Avengers: Endgame has left many fans disheartened.
The much-anticipated LEGO Marvel Avengers: Endgame Final Battle (76323) set has been unveiled, set for launch on May 1, 2025. Considering its title, one might assume it would be a grandiose construction with an abundance of parts to truly depict the scene. However, this upcoming set is relatively compact, featuring only 621 pieces. Despite boasting an impressive lineup of 10 mini-figures, the setting fans are expected to construct around them appears rather uninspiring and ordinary.
This new LEGO Marvel playset primarily features debris left from the destroyed Avengers headquarters in the movie, most notably an Avengers emblem that fans can construct. Additionally, it offers a unique element where magical portals can be built, complete with mini-figures positioned to give the illusion they’re emerging from them. Regrettably, this set has several aspects that fall short of expectations, despite its generally creative design.
This ‘Avengers: Endgame’ LEGO Set is Inconsistent and Overpriced
One reason many people find the “Avengers: Endgame” LEGO set underwhelming is that some of the mini-figures, such as Captain America and Black Panther, don’t have new designs to match their movie costumes. Instead, they resemble figures from the “Captain America: Civil War” LEGO sets. Additionally, while the Ant-Man figure is intriguing due to its design representing his Giant-Man transformation, it falls short compared to previous versions.
Civil War Airport Battle Playset includes a larger, more noticeable version of Giant-Man compared to the miniature figures in other Lego builds. However, at a price point of $99.99, some may find it costly given the relatively small number of pieces included. This affordability concern is further emphasized when comparing it to other sets like the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 Bowie Ship set, which has nearly twice as many pieces and costs the same amount.
In summary, although receiving a LEGO replica of a well-known Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) scene is undeniably thrilling, it’s a letdown that the set is so compact in size. There were numerous opportunities to add intricate details, and greater harmony among the mini-figures would have made it more impressive and justifiable for its $100 price point. Hardcore MCU enthusiasts might still be tempted to buy this set, but casual fans may want to reconsider before investing in a rather unimpressive set.
