I’m thrilled to share that the documentary “One to One: John & Yoko,” created by Kevin Macdonald and Sam Rice-Edwards, will have its Asian premiere! This extraordinary film will close the second edition of the Red Lorry Film Festival in India. As a cinema enthusiast, I can’t wait to witness this unique presentation, brought to us by BookMyShow, the organizers of this international showcase in our country.
This year’s second installation of the festival boasts over 120 films in its lineup, comprising premieres, retrospectives, and exclusive screenings. Among the movies to be shown are Oscar winner “Anora”, “The Last Showgirl”, as well as timeless classics like “Pretty Woman”.
The second installment of this year’s festival offers a roster of over 120 films, encompassing premieres, throwbacks, and special presentations. Included in the selection are Academy Award winner “Anora”, “The Last Showgirl”, and iconic movies such as “Pretty Woman”.
Both versions maintain the original intent while using simpler language to make it more accessible for a general audience.
The One to One Concerts form the core of this documentary. These were John Lennon’s sole full-length performances post-Beatles, attended by Yoko Ono, The Plastic Ono Band, Elephant’s Memory, and other special guests. The concert audio has been remastered by their son, musician Sean Ono Lennon, and the movie features restored and transferred footage, as well as unreleased and unheard personal archives such as phone conversations and home videos.
Originally titled “One to One: John & Yoko“, this film premiered at the prestigious Venice Film Festival and is slated for a global cinema release on April 11.
Macdonald expressed that it’s deeply significant to screen “One to One: John & Yoko” as the final film at Red Lorry Film Festival. This documentary, the result of years spent in painstaking restoration and historical research, offers viewers a unique opportunity to witness a crucial moment in music history with exceptional clarity.
Rice-Edwards emphasizes that by concentrating on a specific moment in time and space, the movie aims to unveil a broader truth. It’s intended to capture something extraordinary – the authentic creative dynamism between two pioneering artists during a significant juncture in their personal lives and professional journeys.
Ashish Saksena, head of the Red Lorry Film Festival and COO for cinemas at BookMyShow, emphasized: “This documentary embodies all that our festival stands for – daring artistic perspectives, cultural relevance, and stories that cross borders. The film’s look into John and Yoko’s creative relationship strikes a chord with our goal to honor cinema that provokes and inspires, making it the perfect finale for our festival.
2nd Edition of Red Lorry Film Festival happens concurrently in Mumbai, while the inaugural Red Lorry Film Festival: Parallel Verse unfolds in Hyderabad. Both events span from March 21st to 23rd.
