Talent agency WME has signed retired English soccer star Rio Ferdinand as a client in all areas.
After retiring from his playing days, Ferdinand has been a regular presence in the media world, serving as a broadcaster and television analyst, particularly for the Champions League and the English Premier League. At present, he works with Warner Bros. Discovery’s TNT Sports in this capacity.
As the FIFA World Cup approaches North America in the year to come, our agency is concentrating on procuring broadcast, digital, and commercial deals within the U.S., given the growing excitement surrounding the tournament’s launch in June 2026. The major soccer event will be shared among 16 cities across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
The 2026 World Cup tournament is scheduled to commence in Mexico on June 11th, and the championship match will take place on July 19th at the MetLife Stadium located in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
As an exceptional defender on the international stage, Ferdinand represented England 81 times, earning spots in three FIFA World Cup teams and even leading them as captain. In the year 2008, he guided his club, Manchester United, to a triumphant UEFA Champions League final against FC Chelsea, acting as their captain during this historic victory.
46-year-old star, Rio Ferdinand, has not only shone brightly on the field but also expanded his digital empire, “Rio Ferdinand Presents.” This online venture boasts a significant following of about 1.3 million subscribers on YouTube alone. Beyond this platform, Ferdinand’s influence stretches far and wide, with over 30 million followers across various social media networks.
In 2018, Ferdinand was bestowed with the Robert Flaherty Award for Best Single Documentary at the BAFTA Television Awards, for the BBC One production titled “Rio Ferdinand: Mum and Dad“, a film he created in memory of his late wife, Rebecca Ellison.
Ferdinand ventured into the world of cinema, serving as an executive producer on Alex de Rakoff’s 2009 gangster film “Dead Man Running,” which featured Danny Dyer and 50 Cent. This former soccer star has been actively advocating for young people to steer clear of a criminal lifestyle.
In 2022, Ferdinand received an OBE (Officer of the Order of the British Empire) on the Queen’s Birthday Honors list, acknowledging his contributions to soccer and charity. He remains under management by New Era Ingenious.
