‘Coco 2’ Set For 2029 Release In Theaters

A follow-up to the movie “Coco” is currently being worked on at Pixar Animation Studios, as announced by Disney CEO Bob Iger on Thursday.

At Disney’s yearly gathering with shareholders, Iger unveiled the title, “Coco 2,” and shared that the movie is currently undergoing initial phases of production. The planned premiere is scheduled for the year 2029 in cinemas.

In the upcoming sequel, the original film’s creative team will be returning, led by directors Lee Unkrich and Adrian Molina. Mark Nielsen, known for his work on “Toy Story 4” and “Inside Out 2”, will serve as producer.

In its early development, this movie promises a delightful blend of comedy, emotion, and excitement. We’re eagerly looking forward to revealing more details in the near future,” Iger expressed.

In 2017, the movie titled Coco was launched, telling the story of a 12-year-old boy who aspires to be a musician. Through an unexpected turn of events, he finds himself in the realm of the Dead. There, his mission is to locate his long-deceased great-great-grandfather, a musician himself, to persuade his family to let him pursue music.

Coco was awarded two Academy Awards: one for the top-rated animated feature and another for the original song “Remember Me,” composed by Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez. Additionally, it received a Golden Globe for the best animated motion picture, a BAFTA for the best animated film, and accolades as the best animated feature and best song from critics’ choice awards.

As an excited fan, I can’t help but share the news that I’m personally looking forward to experiencing the upcoming Coco-themed ride-through attraction at Disney California Adventure!
