As a die-hard fan of “The White Lotus”, I must admit that the initial episodes of Season 3 felt a bit sluggish. However, the latest episode has been nothing short of explosive, dropping bombshells left and right. But, according to Patrick Schwarzenegger, who brings Saxon Ratliff’s family-oriented douchebag persona to life, Episode 6 pales in comparison to the final two episodes yet to come. This season has whisked us away to Thailand for a week of high-privilege vacationers disconnected from technology, aiming for healing. In classic “The White Lotus” style, each character is more stressed than ever after a chain reaction of events involving money laundering, murdered fathers, repressed desires, and toxic friendships. Episode 6 featured one of the most shocking scenes in the series to date, but, as per Schwarzenegger, it’s got nothing on what’s to come in the final two episodes.
In an interview on “The Drew Barrymore Show” to discuss the finale of “The White Lotus”, Patrick Schwarzenegger was asked about which episode he’s most apprehensive about his parents, Maria Shriver and Arnold Schwarzenegger, watching. He explained that it was a bit unsettling to watch the first episode with his entire family since there is a scene where he takes off some clothing. However, despite his father offering some support and understanding, Patrick admitted he’s most concerned about them viewing the final two episodes, and he definitely won’t be watching those with them. Instead, he plans on watching the upcoming episodes without them present.
As a movie enthusiast, I found Episode 6 to be particularly unsettling due to a scene between Saxon and his brother Lochlan (Sam Nivola) that would leave both Freud and Oedipus squirming. This intense moment, surpassing any shock value the series has previously displayed, is reportedly just the beginning of even more shocking revelations. Patrick Schwarzenegger hinted at this, suggesting it’s merely the tip of an icyberg yet to be fully explored.
“The next episodes, they’re crazy!”
‘The White Lotus’ Season 3 Needs to Deliver Some Big Bombshells
Following two exceptionally popular seasons, anticipation ran high for Mike White’s hit dark comedy to make a comeback this year. The third season retains all the signature elements of The White Lotus, such as the privileged guests, underestimated staff, explorations of love, mortality, sexuality, envy, and unexpected nudity scenes. However, many viewers concur that Season 3 is undeniably the least impressive among the three (thus far).
In simpler terms, fans have noted that Season 3’s narrative lacks the spark it previously had, with many commenting on its slow pace. Even when looking at the bigger picture, the latest episodes seem to move at a snail’s pace, as not much significant progress has been made. Each character has a clear objective, but reaching it seems to take an excessive number of episodes. In contrast, the past seasons kept viewers engaged with Mike White’s intricate pacing, which involved interweaving each character’s story arcs for a continuous build-up and unveiling of surprises. This season feels like endless build-up with minimal revelation. However, fans are optimistic that the shocking twists hinted at by Patrick Schwarzenegger in the final episodes will provide a thrilling conclusion to the season.
