- Silly story with its own custom music
- Physics-based challenges in the levels
- A lot of love for PBJ!
Nowadays, everything seems to have a musical vibe, including mobile games! Take for instance PBJ – The Musical, an engaging physics game that stands out from any other I’ve played. With its delightful visuals and the sweet sound of a child’s voice narrating and singing the story, this game is nothing short of captivating.
In “PBJ – The Musical,” the narrative unfolds in distinct chapters, each representing a significant moment in the storyline. The tale commences with a strawberry yearning for stardom, who aspires to be more than just a cupcake garnish. It’s whimsical, it’s endearing, and truly captivating!
You can maneuver the cupcake by identifying contact points on the level and interacting with them. Occasionally, you can move it around or use a spring to propel the touch point forward, causing your strawberry to fly off. There are certain areas where you might get stuck, but pressing the undo button will help you return to a previous state.
In case you find yourself completely stumped during PBJ – The Musical, simply refrain from tapping the screen. This will cause your strawberry to be moved forward by a magical star, thus resolving the level automatically as you observe.
In some instances, your character isn’t a strawberry, but instead, a peanut who was meant to be used as a crayon, yet longs to be consumed instead. It’s an intriguing narrative that seems to draw influence from Romeo and Juliet, as it continues to explore the intertwining of their distinct worlds.
In simpler terms, some controls within PBJ – The Musical can be awkward and challenging at times, occasionally requiring luck rather than skill to advance through a level. However, these awkward moments are more than compensated by the captivating tunes and engaging narrative that the game offers.
Watching the chapters get introduced by a young voice – clearly the narrator taking pride in what he’s saying – is fantastic. The songs are silly and interesting – from the use of peanuts to the storyline about the chef and what he wants for dessert. It’s a fantastic experience especially if you want something different, so much so that I played through it in one sitting.
