Prada Group Officially Acquires Versace
After months of speculation, it has been confirmed that the high-end fashion conglomerate Prada Group has purchased Versace from Capri Holdings for a total of €1.25 billion. This acquisition means that Versace will now join forces with Prada and Miu Miu as part of the group’s collection of premier brands. In a public statement, Prada Group expressed that “Versace offers a complementary addition to our portfolio and has significant potential for growth, utilizing various opportunities for value creation.
The news follows weeks since Donatella Versace, former artistic director and member of the Versace family, resigned from her role, and the company then brought on Dario Vitale, who spent 14 years with Prada Group. Notably, Versace faced a significant setback, reporting a 15% decrease in sales during the last quarter. In contrast, Prada Group experienced an impressive year, showcasing a 18% year-over-year growth across all its brands.
Back in January, I was taken aback when Italian newspaper Il Sole 24 Ore unveiled a report hinting at a possible acquisition of Versace by the Prada Group. Fast forward to February, and the Prada Group started a comprehensive evaluation of Versace, disclosing that they were contemplating a takeover bid for the iconic brand. Later on, Business of Fashion announced in March that Prada had agreed upon a staggering €1.5 billion EUR ($1.6 billion USD) deal. Now that this acquisition is official, I’m curious to see how well Versace will mesh within the tight-knit Prada family.
Supreme Sets Up Shop in Miami
On Thursday, Supreme debuted its inaugural Florida store in the Miami Design District, marking its first boutique in the state. Covering an area of 3735 square feet, this interactive retail space is adorned with artworks by Rita Ackerman, Harmony Korine, Mark Gonzales, Nate Lowman, and Fuck This Life. Additionally, Steven Badgett’s Simparch has crafted a suspended skate bowl above the sales floor.
To mark the launch of its 18th Supreme store, the brand has revealed a skate movie titled HEADBANGER, directed by William Strobeck. This feature-length film was filmed throughout the city by Strobeck and features Miami native Zion Effs alongside Aidan Mackie, Ben Kadow, Caleb Barnett, Kader Sylla, Mark Gonzales, Elijah Odom, Patrick O’Mara, Rowan Zorilla, Sean Pablo, Seven Strong and Troy Gipson. The Supreme Miami store can be found at 45 NE 41st Street, Miami, FL 33137.
The Row *Very Quietly* Launches Its First Homeware Collection in Milan
On Monday, I was thrilled to find myself amidst the elegance of Milan Design Week’s 2025 edition, where The Row unexpectedly graced us with their presence. Their quiet charm was evident as they unveiled a soft goods collection at the historic Palazzo Belgioioso in the heart of the Fashion District.
True to form, the presentation was an intimate affair, stripping things back to focus on solid throws and bedding crafted from premium wool. The muted tones of beige, tan, and deep black added a touch of sophistication to the range of blankets, each one handwoven in India using the world’s finest cashmere.
Elsewhere, a Quilted bedding set, also in cashmere, was intricately hand-stitched with small squares. Vogue magazine revealed that the cashmere variety used in this collection is sourced from young goats and weighs less than 14.5 microns. The only hint of the brand could be found in a discreet corner of the blankets, bearing miniature logos.
Known for keeping its activities discreet, this mysterious brand prefers a slow pace when it comes to projects, making its participation in the globally acclaimed design week an unexpected move. Yet, the limited collection mirrors the Olsens’ unorthodox style, shying away from conventional marketing strategies and excessive product launches by focusing on refining their work with great precision.
Louis Vuitton Hits the Links With New Golf Capsule
For Spring 2025, Louis Vuitton has debuted a Golf Capsule Collection for men, seamlessly blending the brand’s signature luxury elements into the world of sports. Bright neon accents and the iconic Monogram pattern adorn a range of golf-ready clothing, footwear, accessories, and even traditional golf equipment. Each item skillfully combines contemporary styles with enduring sophistication. The Damier print is showcased in various color schemes on classic polos, while the accessories feature this design as well, including golf club covers, ball and tee cases, and more. Additionally, eye-catching green accents are present throughout the collection, appearing on the LV-branded cap, socks, and golf ball-inspired tags. The Louis Vuitton Men’s Golf Capsule is now available for purchase online.
Bode Handcrafts Full Replica of FW25 Collection in Miniature Form
Instead of presenting a conventional lookbook this week, Bode revealed an intricate campaign featuring miniature replicas of their Fall 2025 designs worn by dolls. Spanning nearly 80 images in a visual narrative, the collection merges the American designer’s love for historical menswear styles with inspiration drawn from the work of American composer Morris “Moose” Charlap.
Titled “The Expressionist,” this collection, much like the unfinished musical collaboration between Charlap and Lawrence, carries a similar spirit of artistic expression. As a fan, I’m drawn to its namesake – a play that weaves through the life story of a painter, set in the vibrant backdrops of post-Impressionist Paris, bustling New York City, and rural Pennsylvania.
The collection itself is a canvas, painted with handknitted fabrics and rich woolen materials. These textures are accentuated by striped patterns that echo the brushstrokes of an artist, while regal trimmings add a touch of royal elegance.
Stepping into the world of opera, evening looks are transformed with dramatic collars, tasseled details, and even replicas of performance attire, creating a sense of grandeur and drama reminiscent of a night at the opera.
Inside a mini art studio, the collection presents casual styles that feel contemporary yet timeless. Graphic tees painted with bold designs, a patchwork field jacket, and a studded denim blouson are all easily envisioned as part of our modern-day wardrobe.
This collection, much like the life story of the painter it portrays, is a beautiful blend of past and present, art and fashion, inspiration and reality. As a fan, I can’t wait to see how this expressionist journey unfolds!
