Roman Reigns Will Retire From WWE in Two to Three Years for a “Less Physical Form of Entertainment”

It had been predestined for Roman Reigns to join the professional wrestling world, especially the WWE. Soon, he will uncover the fate that his other family has been destined for. According to Roman Reigns’ interview with Vanity Fair, his contract with the WWE concludes after WrestleMania 2026, and shortly thereafter, he plans to move to Hollywood.

When I complete this current contract, there’ll likely be only a year or two left at most, as per Reigns’ statement. After that, he plans to transition into a less physically demanding form of entertainment.”

Or, more casually:

“After wrapping up this contract, Reigns mentioned there might be just a year or two left, max. Then, it looks like he’ll switch to a career with less physical demands.

In 2010, Joseph Anoa’i – better known as Reigns – joined the family business that includes his uncle Rocky Johnson, cousins Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Jimmy and Jey Uso, Solo Sikoa, Yokozuna, and Rikishi. These individuals are all renowned stars in the WWF/E. Over the next 15 years, he rose to become a legendary figure in wrestling, but his career came with numerous hardships. Despite standing at 6’3″ and weighing 265 pounds of pure muscle, the human body has its limits.

Soon, Anoa’i is set to join Uncle Dwayne in the world of films and television; they have previously collaborated on a movie together.

David Leitch, director of Hobbs & Shaw (2019), commented that Anoa’i was a remarkable physical figure. He added, “The camera adores him, the viewers are captivated by him, but what might hold him back is his very own drive for achievement.

Anoa’i portrayed the character “Matteo” in the Fast and Furious offshoot titled Hobbs & Shaw; Dwayne Johnson, affectionately known as Uncle The Rock, plays the lead role of “Hobbs.

After Anoa’i breaks free from the WWE ropes to focus on acting (not just portraying the Roman Reigns character), he doesn’t intend to star in multiple films within the same franchise as the current Fast series count. Anoa’i mentioned that he receives numerous scripts, but the WWE keeps its wrestlers (referred to as “Superstars”) occupied all year round. Although there are occasional breaks for some talent, the leading performer seldom gets time off, and Reigns recently held the WWE Universal Championship for a record-breaking 1,316 consecutive days. To add to that, he’s a cancer survivor who could benefit from a break.

Even in retirement, Anoa’i intends to use his time wisely while acting, being mindful of how he spends it.

Anoa’i nearly envisions a design similar to Tarantino’s, where we don’t aimlessly include every idea,” he explained. “Instead, I intend to strategize: I have a specific scene or element in mind, and another.

OK, so maybe his acting career won’t be exactly like Uncle Dwayne’s.

While it’s not a requirement, Johnson isn’t necessarily the only one. Despite being the WWE’s top crossover superstar, John Cena is currently thriving in movies and TV productions, too. They both share some common aspects and have distinct differences.

Nick Khan, WWE President, shared with Vanity Fair that Reigns is not just a huge star, but also one-of-a-kind.

At WWE, we frequently note that each rising star doesn’t resemble the one before. With John Cena nearing the end of his career, it’s fascinating to observe Roman Reigns who, unlike previous WWE stars, presents himself differently in appearance, speech, and behavior.

There’s a significant overlap between being a WWE Superstar and a Hollywood actor, as both roles require more than just physical abilities. A significant part of the wrestling profession involves delivering compelling speeches, often referred to as “promos,” where you present your storyline through words rather than actions. If your promo skills aren’t strong, your career can be quite brief – unless you have Paul Heyman in your corner.

Anoa’i’s advisor, both behind and in front of the camera, is Paul “The Wiseman” Heyman, the creator and proprietor of the former Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW) and a potential WWE Hall of Famer. He’s widely regarded as one of the greatest announcers to have ever stood on the wrestling apron. Heyman is an eloquent speaker, an effective actor, and has a passion for cinema.

When Heyman and Reigns formed a team, he compared their potential partnership to Martin Scorsese and Robert De Niro, or David Chase and James Gandolfini in the context of their successful collaborations.

Admirably bold, such comparisons aren’t outlandish or far-fetched within the realm of professional wrestling when it comes to the Wiseman and the Tribal Leader.
