Zack Snyder’s Superman Post Is Going Viral!

87 years ago, on April 18th, I found myself deeply entwined with the creation of one of cinema’s most iconic characters – Superman. His first appearance in Action Comics #1 of 1938 has been etched into my heart ever since, and over the decades, this steel-hearted hero has graced our screens in various forms, portrayed by a succession of talented actors, be it on live-action or television productions, or lending his voice to animated series.

As a dedicated DC Comics fan myself, I can’t help but feel the excitement brewing for James Gunn’s fresh take on the Man of Steel in the upcoming Superman project. However, it’s important to acknowledge another passionate group of comic book enthusiasts who continue to back Zack Snyder’s original vision within his Snyderverse. This version of Superman was embodied flawlessly by Henry Cavill, who graced our screens in numerous productions, such as the standalone film “Man of Steel” in 2013. On Superman Day, Snyder shared a heartfelt post accompanied by an image of Cavill, and it was evident that fans were there to lend their support.

Snyder shared a photo of Cavill, accompanied by a quote from Jor-El. The caption says, “You will inspire the people on Earth to reach for something greater. They may trip up along the way, but eventually, they will follow you into the light, Kal. Eventually, you’ll help them achieve marvelous feats.

The picture of Cavill Snyder that was shared was the initial, official snapshot from Man of Steel, which Warner Bros. subtly hinted at in 2011. This image revealed Henry’s look as the superhero, including his suit and cape, and suggested his superhuman strength.

This elicited a great deal of admiration from numerous fans, who felt compelled to express their praise for the movie. One fan exclaimed, “It’s time for Man of Steel 2!” while another wrote, “Eventually, those who didn’t understand it will.” A third user stated, “Watching this is like reuniting with an old friend. I miss you, dear friend, and hope all is well.” A fourth fan referred to the adaptation as “the ultimate cinematic interpretation of Superman,” while many others described Henry Cavill’s portrayal as “The superior Superman.

This sentiment aligns with Snyder’s own statements, as he commended Cavill just last summer following a short yet impactful performance. “To me, Henry is an exceptional Superman. I chose him for the role. I wanted him to be Superman. Any missed opportunities are unfortunate in that sense, and it would be wonderful to see more of Henry. I often think there could have been more of Henry.”

James Gunn Celebrated Superman Day With a Teaser at the New Superman

Despite fans often taking sides between Snyder and Gunn, these two esteemed directors have made it clear on multiple occasions that they are friends. In fact, Snyder not only supports but also appreciates Gunn’s work, as evidenced by a recent photo of them together. Naturally, when it came to Superman Day, Gunn couldn’t help but join in the celebration, as he often selects significant dates to hint at upcoming dates in the DCU.

The forthcoming superhero movie, showcasing fresh glimpses of the upcoming characters such as Superman, Lois Lane, Hawkgirl, Lex Luthor, and others, also includes input from the cast and crew for the upcoming production. Gunn’s “Superman” is set to initiate the new DC Universe phase, labeled Chapter One: Gods and Monsters, with David Corenswet portraying the legendary figure.

Superman flies out in theaters on July 7.
