Hayden Christensen Teases More Darth Vader in Ahsoka Season 2

Actor Hayden Christensen is set to resume his portrayal of Anakin Skywalker (also known as Darth Vader) in the second season of “Ahsoka”, a role he previously played in the Star Wars prequels and more recently in “Obi-Wan Kenobi” and the first season of “Ahsoka”. Christensen is excited to delve deeper into the storyline of his iconic Star Wars villain.

At the Star Wars Celebration 2025 during the Ahsoka panel, Christensen explicitly stated on stage that “Anakin will appear in season 2.” This news is particularly meaningful for Ahsoka Tano (portrayed by Rosario Dawson) as Anakin was her Jedi mentor, a relationship that was explored in The Clone Wars. Fans are excited to witness more of their dynamic unfold in live-action.

Upon resuming his character Ahsoka, Christensen was tight-lipped about details but hinted in an interview with ComicBook.com that there’s “still a lot to delve into concerning Vader.” The actor expressed excitement to explore the “deep narratives” that unfolded during the period between Anakin’s transformation into Darth Vader in “Episode III: Revenge of the Sith” and his full transition into the dark lord.

There’s a great deal more to delve into regarding Vader. I believe, starting from where we last saw him post-Episode III, and considering the many internal conflicts he faces in this revised form of himself, there are numerous compelling narratives yet to be unfolded.

In Season 1, Anakin, in spirit form due to the Force, offered Ahsoka advice at crucial moments. This suggests that the enigmatic realm of the World Between Worlds might reappear in Season 2 of Ahsoka.

At the conclusion of Ahsoka’s first season, Grand Admiral Thrawn managed to break free from his exile on Peridea, leaving Sabine and Ahsoka with the task of figuring out their own escape. Additionally, Anakin, now a force spirit, was seen keeping watch over his former padawan, setting the stage for Hayden Christensen’s return in Season 2.

In addition to Christensen and Dawson, characters from Star Wars who are coming back in Season 2 of Ahsoka include Sabine Wren (portrayed by Natasha Liu Bordizzo), Ezra Bridger (Eman Esfandi), Grand Admiral Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen), and Baylan Skoll, who will be played by a different actor due to Ray Stevenson’s passing.

The second season of Ahsoka is about to begin filming, but doesn’t have a confirmed release date. 

Hayden Christensen’s Return Hints at a Darth Vader Appearance in Ahsoka

The fact that Christensen comes back as Anakin Skywalker is intriguing, but the possibility of him appearing in the Darth Vader costume within Ahsoka’s Season 2 is what truly gets fans buzzing with excitement.

Ahsoka Tales is set in the timeline following Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi, specifically after Darth Vader has been buried. Yet, the series skillfully weaves in the story of the deceased Jedi through flashbacks depicting Ahsoka and Anakin’s past during the Clone Wars.

In Season 2 of Ahsoka, delving deeper into Anakin’s story after Episode III, particularly his transformation into Darth Vader, could provide uncharted ground on-screen. Given that Anakin has been confirmed as a force ghost and connected to the enigmatic World Between Worlds (a Star Wars mystery waiting to be unraveled), such exploration seems plausible now.

Since his last appearance in “Revenge of the Sith”, Christensen donned the Darth Vader helmet on one occasion, making an appearance in multiple episodes of “Obi-Wan Kenobi”. In these episodes, he engaged in a confrontation with his former master, who was portrayed by Ewan McGregor.

The scenes were greatly appreciated by fans, and the possibility of Christensen reprising his two roles in Ahsoka becomes all the more thrilling. Additionally, potential flashbacks involving Anakin during the prequel saga could pave the way for intriguing guest appearances, such as Natalie Portman’s speculated comeback to Star Wars.
