After much anticipation spanning several months, The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered has officially arrived. However, players tackling the game at its more challenging difficulty levels set by Bethesda Game Studios may not be enjoying their experience quite as they’d hoped.
If you’re a gamer who enjoys tackling Skyrim on its hardest setting (Legendary) and effortlessly overpowering all opponents, you may find it tempting to try your hand at the latest challenge, which is the Expert mode in Oblivion.
Based on what other challenging gamers have shared about their experiences so far, it seems wise not to attempt it yet – unless there’s an update coming up, right? Many players find that while Adept mode is too simple, Expert mode appears to be faulty.
In recent discussions on Reddit, a fan posed a question to others about their personal opinions regarding the difficulty settings in the upcoming remake.
The author finds Adept mode laughably simple, as it’s nearly impossible for it to be defeated, and it can obliterate most enemies with just one or two hits. Conversely, moving up to Expert mode transforms every enemy into a bullet-absorbing juggernaut, requiring a full minute to eliminate each one. Remarks from other players share this observation.
The writer finds Adept mode effortless and almost unkillable, as it can quickly destroy enemies with just a few hits. On the other hand, when switched to Expert mode, enemies become bulletproof sponges, taking a full minute to eliminate each one. Other players’ comments echo this observation.
WTF is with the difficulty slider? from r/oblivion
It appears that the original post mentions that an Expert increases its health by four times and causes double damage, which makes it more difficult. The user wishes for a level or mode in between Adept and Expert because the game can be overly easy at the Adept level but becomes too challenging and tedious at the Expert level.
When I initially dived into the game, I attempted the higher difficulty level, and I must say, it feels like there’s a glitch in the system. It seems like the jump between difficulties is beyond broken, and I find myself wishing for a custom difficulty setting instead. Plus, there’s a thread out there urging for an immediate patch to fix this issue.
In the early stages of the game, it seemed like an eternity to eliminate the rats in the sewers, and the opponents within the initial Oblivion Gate at Kvatch were almost insurmountable.
