Kate Hudson, an actress who was previously nominated for an Oscar and is currently being considered for an Emmy for her portrayal of a semi-fictional version of Los Angeles Lakers owner Jeanie Buss in the Netflix comedy series ‘Running Point’, has been selected to receive the TV Performance of the Year Award (Actress) at the first-ever Newport Beach TV Fest, as announced on Thursday.
After the live broadcast of The Hollywood Reporter’s Awards Chatter podcast, moderated by me and discussing Hudson’s career journey, the award presentation for Hudson will take place. This event is set to start at 7pm on Thursday, June 5, at Newport Beach’s Lido Theater.
(I tried to keep the original meaning while making it more conversational and easier to understand.)
It’s a pleasure to acknowledge Kate Hudson for her exceptional portrayal as team president Isla Gordon in the series ‘Running Point‘,” Gregg Schwenk, CEO and executive director of Newport Beach TV Fest, noted in a statement. “Kate infuses the role with her contagious enthusiasm and comedic prowess. For years, she has enthralled audiences, and we’re excited to honor her performance alongside The Hollywood Reporter.
46-year-old Hudson, who gained popularity from the 2000 film ‘Almost Famous’, was recognized with an Oscar nomination and a Golden Globe win. Following this, she appeared in successful movies like ‘How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days’ (2003), ‘Bride Wars’ (2009) and the most recent ‘Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery’ (2022). Apart from acting, Hudson is also a record producer, singer-songwriter (debuting in 2024), bestselling author, podcast co-host (‘Sibling Revelry’), businesswoman and philanthropist.
The four-day event, known as the Newport Beach TV Fest, which is a spin-off of the Newport Beach Film Festival, will honor television creativity. This celebration takes place from Thursday, June 5 to Sunday, June 8 and showcases screenings and events that recognize both established and up-and-coming talents. Previously announced award recipients are Adam Brody, star of Nobody Wants This, and Jason Segel, star of Shrinking. Tickets can be purchased at nbtvfest.com.
