‘Royal Pains’ Update in the Works at NBC

NBC is looking to bring another former USA Network series into its fold.

I’m thrilled to share that the gaming universe is cooking up a new chapter in the saga of “Royal Pains,” a captivating blend of medicine and humor that ruled our TV screens for eight seasons between 2009 and 2016. Guess who’s returning to his white coat? Yours truly, Dr. Hank Lawson! That’s right, I’m set to step back into the operating room and team up with my on-screen brother, played by the talented Paulo Costanzo, as we continue our roles as concierge doctors for the wealthy denizens of the Hamptons. On top of that, I’ll be lending my producer skills to the project as well! Can’t wait to dive back into this medical drama and bring more laughter and intrigue to your screens!

Andrew Lenchewski, co-creator of Royal Pains, along with Michael Rauch, a writer and executive producer of the original series, are working on a new script. They will serve as executive producers alongside Feuerstein and Rich Frank, who also held the position of executive producer during the run of the USA series. The show hails from Universal Studio Group’s UCP.

A decade past, Hank Lawson established a private medical practice in the Hamptons following a hospital departure. Recently seeking a fresh meaning in life, Hank is now preparing for his most significant endeavor.

Royal Pains is the second ex-USA series that NBC is considering reviving. Currently, NBC is airing Suits LA, a spinoff of Suits which they ordered following the original show’s surge in popularity as a streaming hit in the latter half of 2023. USA has mainly stayed away from producing scripted series in the 2020s, but they have an adaptation of John Grisham’s novel The Rainmaker planned (and they co-own Chucky with sister network Syfy).

Beyond Feuerstein, the TV show Royal Pains also featured Reshma Shetty, Brooke D’Orsay, Jill Flint, Ben Shenkman, and Campbell Scott. At present, Feuerstein is the only actor associated with the NBC project.

Deadline first reported the news.
