In a popular survey, participants were presented with five movie titles: Mardaani, Hichki, Talaash, Bunty Aur Babli 2, and Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway. Notably, 39% of respondents picked Rani Mukerji’s action-thriller film, Mardaani, as their top choice. In this movie, Rani Mukerji portrays the character of Shivani Shivaji Roy, a resolute policewoman intent on uncovering the mystery behind human trafficking within the nation.
Made by her husband Aditya Chopra, the film turned into a huge success, leading to the creation of a sequel titled Mardaani 2 in 2019. Given the success of the second installment, a third part was subsequently announced. As per recent updates, Rani has commenced shooting for the third installment of the franchise where she will reprise her character as Shivani Shivaji Roy.
A year ago, in December, on the anniversary of Mardaani 2’s release, the creators unveiled the third installment of the movie with a poster, announcing it through the caption: “The wait is finally over! Rani Mukerji reprises her role as the formidable Shivani Shivaji Roy in Mardaani 3. The film will hit theaters in 2026.” Rumors indicate that Abhiraj Minawala will be at the helm of this project under the YRF banner.
Returning to the survey results, it’s worth noting that Rani Mukerji’s 2018 comedy-drama movie “Hichki” garnered 26% of the votes, placing it as the second most popular choice. In third place is another film featuring Aamir Khan, “Talaash: The Answer Lies Within,” which also stars Kareena Kapoor Khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Rajkummar Rao, and others. Coming in fourth was Rani Mukerji’s 2023 legal drama movie “Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway.” Lastly, the heist comedy film “Bunty Aur Babli 2” received the least number of votes.
