This year, expect the arrival of a fresh sneaker collaboration between Nyjah Huston and Nike SB: the SB Nyjah 4. The design, with its streamlined, ankle-friendly structure, continues the aesthetic philosophy that has characterized Huston and Nike’s skateboarding division since the debut of his first signature shoe, the SB Nyjah Free, in 2018. However, it stands out from previous releases due to some innovative technical features.

As a fan, I’d say that while the SB Nyjah 3 and Free 2 models focused on innovative features like a sock-like inner sleeve and lightweight flexibility, the SB Nyjah 4 takes a more traditional approach with a standard tongue. It boasts additional protective elements such as a rubberized mudguard, reinforced mesh upper, large TPU heel clip, and a Zoom Air unit in the heel for enhanced impact protection.

There are some resemblances to the previous model, like the transparent outsole that offers improved board feel and grip. The outsole also features a custom traction pattern. Branding is kept to a minimum with medium-sized Swooshes on both sides of the upper, a small embroidered Swoosh at the top of the toe box, another Swoosh on the sole, and a subtle “Nyjah” wordmark on the tongue’s pull tab.

The initial images of the upcoming Nike SB Nyjah 4 sneakers were briefly displayed on Zumiez’s online store (apparently the staff took a momentary pause from their skateboard tricks). However, these images have been taken down. The release is anticipated to occur later in summer or early fall, with an estimated retail price of $110 USD.
