Leighton Meester Speaks Out About ‘Gossip Girl’ Co-Star Michelle Trachtenberg’s Death

For the very first time, Leighton Meester has expressed her thoughts on the passing of her former “Gossip Girl” colleague, Michelle Trachtenberg.

Georgina Sparks’ actress, Trachtenberg, passed away in February at the age of 39 due to diabetes-related complications, as confirmed by the New York City Office of Chief Medical Examiner earlier.

Meester expressed deep sorrow in a recent interview with Flaunt magazine. ‘She was an exceptional, gifted individual, adored by all,’ he stated. ‘It’s deeply saddening for everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.’

The actress who portrayed Blair Waldorf in the series commented, “It’s amazing to witness how the impact of our show still resonates – in fact, it seems to be stronger than ever before, which is truly remarkable.

Under the pen of an enigmatic, malicious blogger, the series “Gossip Girl” chronicled the lives of a privileged circle of teenagers, immersed in daily scandals as they navigated the elite social circles of Manhattan. The show, airing from 2007 to 2012 for six seasons, featured performances by Blake Lively, Penn Badgley, Ed Westwick, Chace Crawford, Kelly Rutherford, Matthew Settle, Taylor Momsen, and Jessica Szohr.

Previously, during the opening of season five for You, Badgley expressed his feelings about Trachtenberg’s passing, describing it as both “unusually strange” and “deeply sad.

He mentioned that what stood out about her was how easily she would laugh, and her spirit was full of joy. Everyone has their moments, but she carried a mature yet childlike, joyful laughter.

Back in February, after her passing, Crawford, Momsen, Szohr, and the show’s co-creator Josh Schwartz, offered a heartfelt tribute to Trachtenberg.
