Michelle Trachtenberg‘s unexpected passing continues to affect deeply those who worked with her, such as Leighton Meester, who portrayed Blair Waldorf in the popular CW teen romance series from 2007 to 2012. Recently, Meester has been sharing thoughts about the late Trachtenberg following her tragic death at age 39 by her mother on February 26th. The news of Trachtenberg’s passing came as a shock not only to many but also to Meester, who shares the same age as the deceased actress.
In an interview, Meester discussed the enduring friendships she formed during her time on “Gossip Girl” and expressed deep sadness upon learning about Trachtenberg’s passing. She stated, “It’s heart-wrenching.” Reports from the New York City Medical Examiner’s Office revealed that Trachtenberg died of natural causes, with no signs of foul play. The actress had recently undergone a liver transplant prior to her demise.
“Everyone Loved Her”
Meester expressed her feelings about her friend, stating that she was remarkable and admired by all. She went on to say that it’s heartbreaking for everyone who had known her. Meester also mentioned that recalling their time together on Gossip Girl is providing some comfort during this difficult period. “Indeed,” she added, “the impact (of the show) still resonates – in fact, perhaps even stronger than before – which is truly remarkable.” Trachtenberg played Georgina Sparks in multiple episodes of Gossip Girl and reprised her role in the remake series titled HBO Max’s Gossip Girl.
“She Was Really Joyous”
One of Trachtenberg’s co-stars from “Gossip Girl,” recalling their time together, stated, “She had an infectious laugh that could brighten any room.” This actor explained that Trachtenberg was full of joy and laughter, even though everyone has good days and bad. He added, “She was mature, but she also had this childlike, jovial laugh.” Despite not having seen her in over a decade, Badgley found her passing to be both strange and deeply sad.
