Cannes Late Additions Include Eugene Jarecki’s Julian Assange Doc ‘The Six Billion Dollar Man’

The Cannes Film Festival has recently included several movies in its official lineup, mere days before the commencement of the 78th festival on Tuesday. One of the late additions is Eugene Jarecki’s documentary about Julian Assange, titled “The Six Billion Dollar Man“. This film will be screened as a special feature.

Originally slated for screening at Sundance this year, “The Six Billillion Dollar Man” got taken off the schedule a few weeks prior, as per Jarecki. He felt compelled to incorporate some “recent and unforeseen advancements” into the movie before its release. So, in essence, I’d be tweaking the game script to adapt to these new twists!

In this year’s competition, a new entry titled “Resurrection” – a sci-fi detective movie helmed by Chinese director Bi Gan (known for “Long Day’s Journey Into Night“) – has been added. This film features Jackson Yee (from “Better Days“) and Shu Qi (known for “The Assassin“). The distribution rights for the movie are being handled at Cannes by Les Films du Losange.

At the last minute, additions included Martin Bourboulon’s film “13 jours, 13 nuits,” which will be shown Out Of Competition, and the film “Ma Fere” by Lise Akoka and Romane Gueret, which will be screened as a Cannes Premiere.

The 78th Cannes Film Festival runs May 13-24.
