Ananya Panday, fresh from Student of the Year 2 and now in Kesari Chapter 2, is clearly growing as an actress. Her selection of diverse roles and increased screen charisma indicate that she’s taking on even more challenging projects and excelling at them. In a recent conversation, the actress candidly discussed her early challenges on set, admitting to feelings of persistent ‘anxiety’ and ‘self-doubt’, as if everyone was watching her closely. Yet, with experience and a wider range of roles, she now feels less apprehensive and more self-assured.
During an interview with Mid Day, Ananya Panday opened up about her experiences in her acting career. She mentioned that being part of movies such as CTRL and Call Me Bae (2024) ignited a passion for acting within her.
Ananya shared that she’s learned to rely more on her gut feelings these days, which is a change from when she frequently fretted over what others might think on set or how the audience might respond.
In the past, Panday found herself overly fixated on achieving the perfect end result, a predicament that often hindered her from fully immersing in the present. But the process of working on these films served as a transformative journey, enabling her to conquer her apprehensions and manage pressure effectively, without it becoming debilitating.
During the same interview, the actress from Dream Girl 2 spoke about her character in the newly premiered Kesari 2. She attributed the film’s influence to the potent narrative direction by Karan Singh Tyagi. She also mentioned that while she had learned about the Jallianwala Bagh massacre in school, the movie provided a more profound insight into the historical event for her.
Panday made clear her wish to be part of narrating such a crucial phase in history, particularly by working on a period drama that imaginatively recreates the court case fought by C Sankaran Nair against the British Empire in response to the 1919 incident.
In Kesari 2, she plays Dilreet Gill, a dedicated young lawyer who aids the main character alongside Akshay Kumar and R Madhavan. Although separated by a century, Panday finds a common characteristic with her character, Dilreet – an unyielding resolve.
In much the same way as her character does, Dilreet harbors a strong internal flame that might not always be apparent at first glance. Yet, similar to her, Dilreet demonstrates a calm and steady determination, expressing her fervor without needing to speak loudly.
