‘Ted’ Animated Series From Seth MacFarlane a Go at Peacock

After two movies and a prequel series, the world of Ted is growing again.

Peacock has given the go-ahead to an animated “Ted” series inspired by Seth MacFarlane‘s movies. This new show will share space with the prequel series on Peacock, which debuted in January 2024 and has been granted a second season extension.

As a devoted fan, I’m thrilled to share that Seth MacFarlane will once again lend his voice to the lovable, yet boorish Ted – the talking teddy bear brought to life by a magical wish. Joining him in this adventure are familiar faces like Mark Wahlberg, Amanda Seyfried, and Jessica Barth, all reprising their roles from the Ted movies (the series will follow on from the events of 2015’s Ted 2). Additionally, Kyle Mooney and Liz Richman will also be part of this exciting cast.

In its debut on Peacock, the live-action “Ted” prequel enjoyed a robust first season, consistently ranking among the top 10 original streaming series and surpassing all other original comedies for two consecutive months. Additionally, it performed well on Sky in the U.K.

Seth MacFarlane shared with The Hollywood Reporter upon the premiere of the prequel series that he was content with how the Ted movies concluded. However, the concept of a prequel was a distinct proposition. It wasn’t something he initially conceived. Instead, Universal presented the idea to him about creating a Ted series. His thoughts about revisiting the character hadn’t crossed his mind until they suggested it, and his first reaction was, “Isn’t that incredibly costly?” Yet, they kept their promise and didn’t skimp on quality.

Similar to the live-action series “Ted,” which originates from Universal Studio Group’s UCP, this animated show is also produced by them. Paul Corrigan and Brad Walsh, who serve as executive producers for the prequel, will take on the roles of showrunners and continue their executive producer duties alongside Seth MacFarlane, Erica Huggins, Alana Kleiman, Jason Clark, Aimee Carlson from MacFarlane’s Fuzzy Door Productions, and Claudia Katz from animation studio Rough Draft.
