Damson Idris to Play Miles Davis in Mick Jagger-Produced Period Romance ‘Miles & Juliette’

Actor Damson Idris is set to take on the role of Miles Davis in the period romance “Miles & Juliette,” opposite Anamaria Vartolomei who will play the character Juliette Gréco.

The film project, titled Love & Mercy, will be directed by Bill Pohlad. Zora Howard has written the screenplay for this upcoming production. Mick Jagger will produce through his company Jagged Films, and alongside him will be Victoria Pearman and Pohlad from his own banner River Road Entertainment (known for Brokeback Mountain). Additionally, Kim Roth of Mudbound fame is also involved in the production.

Xavier Dolan will also star along with Idris and Vartolomei.

Based on the project details, “Miles & Juliette” tells the story of 22-year-old Miles Davis (played by Idris), who embarks on a life-changing journey to Paris in 1949. There, he enters into a passionate romance with Juliette Gréco (portrayed by Vartolomei), a renowned French singer, actress, and Left Bank icon. This initial relationship evolves into a deep bond between two emerging artists, both of whom were on the verge of becoming cultural icons.

At the Cannes Film Market, Goodfellas is set to initiate global distribution for the film titled “Miles & Juliette“, while CAA Media Finance manages the rights for North America.

Idris Elba, represented by CAA, M88, and Hansen Jacobson, will soon appear alongside Brad Pitt in the movie “F1” and is currently filming the fantasy film “Children of Blood and Bone” for Paramount. Meanwhile, Strickland Vartolomei, also represented by CAA and UBBA, made an appearance in Bong Joon-Ho’s production titled “Mickey 17”.

Dolan is represented by both CAA and Thirty Three Management, while Pohlad has representation from CAA and Untitled. Similarly, Howard is managed by CAA, and Jagged Films shares representation with CAA and David Fox.
