‘CoComelon’ Animated Movie in The Works

As a gaming enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that the popular kids’ show CoComelon is gearing up for its cinematic debut! After captivating audiences through live productions and amassing a huge fanbase on streaming platforms, it’s now ready to shine on the big screen. Can’t wait to see it!

Moonbug Entertainment, the creator of the popular preschool series, and Flywheel Media have approved an animated CoComelon feature film in collaboration with Universal Pictures for a 2027 theater release. The CoComelon franchise focuses on the adventures of JJ and his friends as they tackle and commemorate significant life events for young children. These include overcoming fears, caring for pets, and visiting a friend’s house for the first time.

The colorful animation and catchy songs that make up CoComelon have made it a global sensation, amassing over 4 billion views on YouTube alone. On Netflix, it frequently ranks high among the most popular children’s shows, and its popularity has even extended to music streaming services like Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon Music.

The forthcoming computer-animated movie, modeled after a stage performance titled “CoComelon LIVE! JJ’s Journey“, is set to be jointly produced by Prime Focus Studios and DreamWorks Animation. The animation for this production will come from the DNEG Group.

CoComelon features offshoots such as Netflix’s original productions with Moonbug Entertainment, titled CoComelon Lane – this is the streamer’s first step into creating unique content. There are also series like Cody Time, Nina’s Family, and JJ’s Animal Time.

1) Moonbug, a component of Candle Media, is helmed by co-chairmen and joint CEOs Kevin Mayer and Tom Staggs, with financial support from investment firms managed by Blackstone’s private equity sector. On the other hand, Flywheel Media was initiated by Don McGregor and currently focuses on producing “The Angry Birds Movie 3”, scheduled for release by Paramount Pictures in 2027.
