After Hum Tum, another Bollywood classic starring Akshay Kumar is all set to re-release in theaters in May 2025

Following the announcement that Hum Tum starring Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukerji would be re-released in cinemas on May 16, it’s exciting to know that another popular Bollywood classic, Dhadkan, is also making a comeback. This iconic 2000 romantic drama featuring Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, and Shilpa Shetty will be screened again in theaters on May 23, but this time in a digitally enhanced format.

Released on August 11, 2000, the movie “Dhadkan” made a significant impact with its poignant narrative and melodious soundtrack. Helmed by Dharmesh Darshan, this film follows the tale of Anjali (portrayed by Shilpa Shetty), who is smitten by Dev (Suniel Shetty), a fervent yet financially struggling man. However, her affluent family disapproves of their union and arranges her wedding to Ram (Akshay Kumar), a considerate, perceptive, and prosperous man. As Anjali grows fond of her spouse, Dev resurfaces in her life, causing a distressing love triangle that gripped viewers’ hearts.

Through its heartfelt explorations of love, self-sacrifice, and personal development, the film Dhadkan achieved significant commercial success, grossing approximately Rs 26 crore worldwide. However, it was the music that truly set this movie apart. Created by the acclaimed duo Nadeem–Shravan with lyrics penned by Sameer, the soundtrack emerged as the second best-selling album of the year, trailing only Mohabbatein. Timeless tunes such as “Dil Ne Yeh Kaha Hai Dil Se” and “Tum Dil Ki Dhadkan Mein” remain beloved classics among fans, cementing Dhadkan’s place as a musical gem in Bollywood history.

In approximately 25 years, moviegoers will get a chance to experience the enchantment once more on the big screen. The movie is scheduled for re-release in carefully chosen cinemas throughout India, offering a revamped version with improved visuals and sound quality that should delight both novice viewers and longstanding fans alike.

In addition, the movie showcased a skilled ensemble of secondary actors such as Sharmila Tagore, Parmeet Sethi, Kiran Kumar, Sushma Seth, and Manjeet Kullar, contributing significantly to the film’s emotional resonance.

Apart from the main characters, the movie showcased a talented bunch of supporting actors like Sharmila Tagore, Parmeet Sethi, Kiran Kumar, Sushma Seth, and Manjeet Kullar, making the story more emotionally profound.
