Harshvardhan Rane’s Sanam Teri Kasam continues to be one of the most cherished romantic films ever made. After much anticipation, work on a sequel is finally underway. In an exclusive chat with Hindi Rush, directors Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru disclosed that they initially planned the first film as part of a series. However, due to audience preferences leaning towards movies like Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal and Shraddha Kapoor’s Stree 2, the team decided to postpone the project temporarily. Now, with mounting fan requests, the sequel is once again moving forward!
Filmmaker Vinay Sapru revealed that a sequel for Sanam Teri Kasam had been planned from the start. During discussions about the eagerly awaited follow-up, Sapru disclosed that the concept of expanding the storyline was already in mind during the scripting process for the original film.

When we were penning down Sanam Teri Kasam 1, it was always intended as a sequel. After all, when there’s so much love story being told, there’s that much more emotion involved. So, what could possibly happen with Inder? How does one cope with such emotions in life? That story too was being written at that very moment.
In the creation of Sanam Teri Kasam 1, it has been consistently mentioned that the plot was conceived as a continuation from the beginning. Since we crafted such an emotionally charged love tale, curiosity naturally arises about the fate of characters like Inder. How does he navigate through life? Those aspects of his story were actually penned down during the original scriptwriting process itself.
He went on saying, “Nobody ever asked us about it at that time. They simply told us to create an animal and a woman… So we had placed it temporarily in the script. Now that their demand has come up, we have taken it out from there, yes, now we are working on fulfilling this small demand as well. Yes, of course.
At that point, there was little discussion about a sequel; instead, we were instructed to create movies similar to ‘Animal’ or ‘Stree’.
Due to growing interest from fans for more of Inder and Saru’s emotional storyline, the filmmakers have chosen to bring back the project. In simpler terms, Sapru confirmed that they’ve dusted off the project and resumed working on it since there’s now a demand for it. The movie Sanam Teri Kasam was re-released, breaking its original box office records in the process.
