Hotta Studio’s upcoming game, Neverness to Everness, has reached its next development stage and is now accepting sign-ups for a closed beta test, known as the Containment Test. This exclusive beta for PC users will offer early access to the urban open-world action RPG, allowing players to experience the unique mix of disorder, exploration, and powers fueled by Esper abilities.
In the vast urban landscape of Hethereau, I eagerly anticipate my journey through Neverness to Everness, a world that merges the extraordinary with the ordinary. Here, high-speed pursuits intertwine with the liberty of personal lifestyle and the bizarre becomes the norm. If you’ve caught a glimpse of the trailers, you’ll sense the peculiar vibe – graffiti-adorned skateboards that seem to think for themselves, otters adorned with TV screens, and an undeniable chill in the air at midnight.
In this peculiar metropolis, you’ll traverse using Esper Abilities, encountering mysterious occurrences along the way as you grapple with the contrast between routine existence and bizarre emergencies. This preliminary version showcases a variety of features that distinguish Neverness from Everness within its competitive genre landscape.
Unlike many open-world RPGs, this game emphasizes urban driving as a primary feature, offering customizable vehicles and crash scenes that can be destructible, enhancing realism. Additionally, it includes aspects of daily living such as home ownership and interior design, broadening the experience beyond combat encounters. This enables players to immerse themselves in city life or simply indulge in decorating compulsively between missions.
The Containment Test will offer voice-overs in English, Japanese, and Chinese, along with various text language options. At the moment, it’s only available for PC, but future plans include releases on PlayStation 5, iOS, and Android. If you’re eager to play on your mobile device, you’ll need to be patient a bit longer.
In the bustling gaming scene where Zenless Zone Zero and Ananta also exist, urban RPG titled Neverness powered by Unreal Engine 5 and developed by Hotta Studio (known for Tower of Fantasy) is poised to make its mark. Despite the competitive landscape, the visual prowess of Unreal Engine 5 combined with Hotta Studio’s reputation may help create a unique niche for this new game world.
