As a passionate film enthusiast, I find myself drawn into a chilling remake of a beloved Disney classic, Mickey Mouse. However, this time around, it’s not the cheerful mouse we know; instead, pure evil lures two YouTube personalities into a lethal mousetrap, with sinister intentions to strip them of their very skin. A far cry from the innocence of our childhood memories.
Let me make this clear, this isn’t the usual fairy tale you’d find in Disney – I Heart Willie sheds light on the grim origins of the animated series that built its own kingdom.
Originating from the imaginative brains of writer-actor David Vaughn (Copshop, American Rust) and director Alejandro G. Alegre (They Were Witches, The Devil Told Me What to Do), comes the chilling horror I Heart Willie, ready for its UK digital premiere on June 23 thanks to Reel 2 Reel Films.
When well-known personalities Daniel and Nico get invited to look into the story of Steamboat Willie – a child born with unusual features who seems to be a mix of human and mouse, rumored to have inspired Disney’s groundbreaking animation – they feel curious and decide to accept the task.
With Willie being considered just a city myth – supposedly someone who murders people and tailors a suit from their hides – these brave YouTubers are on the verge of discovering an astonishing reality.

The daring YouTubers think they’re dealing with an urban legend about Willie, claiming he slaughters his victims and fashions a suit using their hides. However, they’re about to stumble upon the actual truth.
As the duo prepared for the evening, geared up to record their discoveries of excitement and shivers, they unknowingly stepped into Willie’s hideout – a domain of terror, filled with grotesque torment and chaos that was lurking in ambush for them.
