Bacon Fans in SHOCK! Amazon Cancels Show After 1 Season?!

Fans are disappointed as Amazon has decided not to renew the dark supernatural action series for another season, despite receiving a positive 83% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. According to Variety, the show did not perform as well as anticipated on Prime Video.

At the start of April, the action-horror series was released in full on Amazon Prime Video and appeared poised for another big win for the streaming service. Interestingly, it ranked high within their own charts but could only manage ninth place on Nielsen’s list of popular streaming originals during its premiere week, amassing approximately 9.38 million hours watched.

Although The Bondsman’s quality might have been sufficient for some series to get renewed, it appears that the production expenses required a higher return. Unfortunately, due to its inability to meet this need, Bacon won’t make a comeback on screens for a second season. Sadly, unlike his character, bounty hunter Hub Halloran, Bacon won’t receive another opportunity for redemption.

As a devoted viewer and ardent fan of this esteemed series, I must express my profound disillusionment at the latest development – the cancellation of another season. Just a mere week ago, our beloved actor, Kevin Bacon, had shared his optimism about the possibility of renewal. In an interview with Collider, he conveyed his sentiments, stating:

“I was really hoping that we’d get another season. I thought we were in a good place, and I was excited to see where the story would go next.”

This sentiment undoubtedly echoes the collective disappointment of fans everywhere.

My ambition is to bring back another season. I am genuinely excited about another season. To create a satisfying conclusion, we aim to provide something that will leave viewers eagerly anticipating the resolution, such as ‘We must find out what happens next!’ The central theme driving Hub’s character is his deep-seated love for Maryanne and longing for their relationship, combined with the beautiful music they created together. This emotional bond is further complicated by the fact that an escaped demon has taken possession of his former spouse, making it impossible for him to harm her because she resides within a woman he deeply cares about. Thus, Hub finds himself in a challenging predicament, which promises to make for a compelling and intriguing series finale.

‘The Bondsman’ Brought Kevin Bacon Back to His Horror Roots

On April 3, 2025, the series “The Bondsman” made its debut, featuring Bacon’s character Halloran. In an unexpected turn of events, Halloran was attacked and killed by a former Boston gangster named “Lucky” Callahan, who also happens to be dating Halloran’s estranged wife. However, Halloran finds himself working in a new role as a bounty hunter for the devil. The first episode garnered acclaim from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, and the show received decent viewership ratings there too. Audiences also appreciated the series, awarding it a 76% score on Popcornmeter.

In an interview at Amazon, Bacon characterized his role as a man who still has much maturing ahead, referring to him as someone immature or boyish.

He’s an intriguing individual, exhibiting both a tough and unrefined demeanor. This character possesses a knack for combating supernatural beings, yet retains an immature, childlike nature, suggesting he may not have fully matured despite his age. He grapples with immense darkness, remorse, and personal struggles, reflecting in his internal turmoil as well as the external challenges he faces. It’s no coincidence that he battles both inner and outer demons, making for a complex and challenging existence.
