As I embark on an exciting journey, it’s with a sense of pride that I find myself en route to the Cannes Film Festival for the very first time. My film, Homebound, is set to make its grand debut at this prestigious event, and I can hardly contain my anticipation. Along the way to the French Riviera, I’ve been reminiscing about a cherished memento from our movie, each memory adding to the excitement of this incredible opportunity.

17th May 2025, I myself posted a peek on my Instagram Stories about how I utilized my layover en route to Cannes. At that moment, I was comfortably seated at a cafe nestled in Zurich, Switzerland, with a cup of coffee and the script of Homebound before me. I expressed, “I’ve brought this script as a reminder of where we embarked… Homebound is bound for Cannes :).

In a different tale, Ishaan shared a glimpse of his preparatory notebook that was brimming with his jottings. He disclosed, “Unexpectedly stumbled upon the character and language preparation book for Homebound during a layover in Switzerland. It’s amazing how swiftly time passes.

A while ago, the creators of Homebound revealed that the film will debut on May 21. They unveiled a poster featuring Ishaan Khatter and Vishal Jethwa in a jubilant scene. The caption read, “Strong ties endure. Introducing the first poster for HOMEBOUND, directed by Neeraj Ghaywan and starring Ishaan Khatter, Vishal Jethwa & Janhvi Kapoor. This premiere takes place at the Cannes Film Festival on May 21, 2025.

The movie is set to contend in the Un Certain Regard category during the 78th Cannes Film Festival alongside other films such as Eleanor the Great, My Father’s Shadow, Pillion, Urchin, among others. This is Neeraj Ghaywan’s second feature film, with his debut work Masaan also having been showcased at Cannes. The producers for this project include Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, and Somen Mishra.

Currently, Ishaan Khatter made an appearance in the series titled “The Royals.” In this role, he portrayed a prince with panache, captivating viewers. His well-toned physique and shirtless scenes were particularly noteworthy, garnering widespread attention. You can catch this production, featuring Bhumi Pednekar, on Netflix.
