On Saturday, the entertainment world received devastating news: actor and television host Mukul Dev passed away. With a career lasting nearly three decades, Mukul was admired for his multi-faceted talent and screen charisma. His friend Vindu Dara Singh confirmed the sad news, revealing that Mukul had grown more secluded in his final days. Intriguingly, he also stopped posting on Instagram. His last post, uploaded in February, now seems eerie as it mentioned “I’ll see you on the dark side,” suggesting he may have foreseen what was to transpire.

Not many people know that Mukul Dev obtained a certification in aeronautics from the Indira Gandhi Institute of Aviation in Raebareli. Regularly, he would take flights on his own and eventually document these skyborne escapades for his audience. This enthusiasm for flying was evident in his last Instagram post on February 26, 2025, where he shared tales of his high-altitude journeys.

High above, Mukul captured a view from his two-seater, single-engine aircraft with a high wing. Enshrouded by clouds, he admired the sun sinking below the horizon. In his post, he wrote: “Even if your thoughts turn ominous… I’ll meet you on the other side of the moon.” The classic tune of Pink Floyd’s ‘Dark Side of the Moon’ played as a backdrop.

Moments prior to his last update for the day, Mukul offered a quick peek at his plane just as it was about to depart. Accompanied by this image, he wrote, “Echo November India. She’s the one who granted me the ability to soar and taught me some aviation secrets. #learningtofly.

Mukul Dev often expressed his intense love for flying by posting old photos and tales from his aviation school days. On December 20, 2024, one of his final posts featured a picture taken during his flight exam in 1990. In the caption, he boasted about acing the written test on his initial attempt, scoring highly.

1990 – I took my flight training entrance exam at the relaxed greens of the Delhi Flying Club. It was a grueling, drawn-out process, but I managed to pass it on the very first try. #igrua #7thCommercialPilotsBatch was how he put it.

Mukul sadly lost his life on May 23, reaching the age of 54. He had been battling poor health for quite some time and eventually required hospitalization in the Intensive Care Unit. Regardless of the extensive efforts made by the medical team, he failed to regain his health.

He is mourned by his acting sibling, Rahul Dev, as he passed away. The specific reason for his demise remains undisclosed. Numerous celebrities, such as Salman Khan, Sushmita Sen, and Ajay Devgn, have expressed their sympathies over the unfortunate death of this gifted performer.
