Chris Hemsworth Has MCU Fans Believing His Time as Thor is Ending

By the year 2026 when the movie premieres in theaters, the actor will have portrayed the character of the God of Thunder for approximately fifteen years. The actor first appeared as this character in 2011 and has since starred in four individual films and featured in multiple team-up projects.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding Thor’s future within the Marvel Cinematic Universe following Thor: Love and Thunder in 2022, Chris Hemsworth isn’t saying goodbye to the character just yet. In fact, Thor will be a part of the numerous superheroes set to appear in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday, which is the fifth installment of the Avengers series. To build excitement for his comeback, Hemsworth shared a behind-the-scenes video on social media and a heartfelt message expressing gratitude to fans, leaving some to ponder if his Thor days might be numbered.

Prior to 2011, Chris Hemsworth had been acting for nearly a decade, but it was the character of Thor from the movie “Thor” that truly launched him into stardom. His fame skyrocketed, leading to roles in various other franchises such as “Men in Black,” “Transformers,” and “Mad Max.” Hemsworth is grateful for the impact Thor has had on his career and appreciates the fans who have supported him throughout this journey.

In simpler terms, this “behind-the-scenes” video is titled “Thank You! The Legacy of Thor“. It includes interviews with Chris Hemsworth, Marvel executive Kevin Feige, co-stars Natalie Portman and Tessa Thompson, along with director Taika Waititi.

In the post’s title, Hemsworth expressed, “Playing Thor has been one of the most significant privileges in my life. For over 15 years, I’ve wielded Mjolnir and Stormbreaker as the Thunder God, but what made it truly extraordinary… was doing so alongside all of you. Your enthusiasm, your applause, and your affection for this character have touched me deeply.

He went on to say, “I appreciate you for making my Marvel Cinematic Universe adventure an unforgettable one…And now, let’s face Doomsday!

In the early stages of planning at Marvel Studios, one decision that stood out was casting Thor. We had a clear vision for this iconic character – someone who could bring both strength and vulnerability to the role. After scouring the globe, we discovered Chris Hemsworth and knew he was our man.

We felt confident that Chris was right for the part after seeing his screen test in 2009.

Avengers: Doomsday Will Reunite Chris Hemsworth With Other Iconic Superheroes

Chris Hemsworth isn’t the only one returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). He will join forces with Robert Downey Jr., coming back as Doctor Victor Von Doom, Tom Hiddleston reprising his role as Loki, Sebastian Stan portraying Bucky Barnes/ The Winter Soldier, Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson/ Captain America, Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, and Letitia Wright playing Shuri/ Black Panther.

In addition to the familiar faces from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there are newcomers such as Florence Pugh (Yelena Belova), Wyatt Russell (U.S. Agent), Hannah John-Kamen (Ghost), Lewis Pullman (Sentry), and David Harbour (Red Guardian). Also joining the cast are Tenoch Huerta Mejia (Namor), Simu Liu (Shang-Chi), Danny Ramirez (Falcon), and Winston Duke (M’Baku). The Fantastic Four will also make an appearance, along with several stars from the X-Men franchise.
