Elden Ring Nightreign class tier list – Best characters to use

Choosing a character in Elden Ring: Nightreign can be challenging. Each option appears enticing, yet an incorrect selection might lead to difficulties in defeating bosses, whereas your companions seem to effortlessly dismantle them.

When faced with numerous designs, statistics, and eye-catching skills, it’s simple to feel bewildered or choose something that doesn’t suit your taste. This is exactly when a well-crafted tier list proves useful.

In my practice, I’ve invested significant effort into working closely with each class, not merely in theoretical settings but also in actual combat scenarios. Drawing from this hands-on experience and maintaining an unbiased perspective, I’ve compiled a list that emphasizes what truly counts: durability, offensive power, and longevity.

Meta analysis

After its debut, Nightreign hasn’t undergone any changes in character class balancing so far, however, players are finding that the Arcane scaling is incredibly overpowered, causing builds such as Duchess and Executor to significantly excel.

In the later stages of gameplay, less agile, close-combat-focused characters such as Raider may struggle to keep up unless they’ve been thoroughly fine-tuned.

S-Tier characters in Elden Ring Nightreign

Duchess

Duchess is S-tier because she’s built like a rogue-mage hybrid with zoomies.

She moves incredibly quickly, efficiently builds her status as a masterful professional with swift dagger attacks, and her Restage offers substantial bonus damage when timed correctly (though it can be difficult to coordinate at first).

The Finale Ultimate serves as an escape option, but it also provides opportunities for effortless attacks, making it particularly effective during intense battles with bosses.

She’s soft, undoubtedly so, and requires careful handling with just the right magical incantations. But when she’s activated, it’s an exhilarating pandemonium at its finest.

Ironeye

Ironeye is the definitive calm-disruptor. From a distance, you launch attacks, gradually whittling down an opponent while others around are frantically battling in close quarters.

This character has a knack for dealing massive damage to foes with his special bonus, as long as you target correctly. Additionally, he rarely requires Focus Points (FP), ensuring you’ll never run out during combat. However, he does have low health and stamina, so be careful not to overuse him or he might falter. But on the bright side, his extended range is a significant advantage in battle.

Plus, reviving teammates from across the map is straight-up MVP energy.

A-Tier characters in Elden Ring Nightreign

Executor

Executor sits comfortably in A-tier thanks to its massive damage and strong 1v1 potential.

As a fan, I’d say: With a strong Arcane scaling, my attacks inflict status effects swiftly (when I have them available), and the Ultimate Art easily sweeps through mobs as if they were nothing. However, there’s a catch – the Cursed Sword isn’t always cooperative with status-based builds, and using it significantly reduces my mobility.

The durability isn’t fantastic, meaning errors can be costly. This class offers significant rewards with expert handling, but success isn’t guaranteed easily.

Guardian

The Guardian is firmly categorized as top-notch, serving as an unyielding tank that effortlessly withstands damage and retaliates with powerful Guard Counters.

This character works exceptionally well with gear that emphasizes critical hits, and has an unusual adaptability due to the ability to wield both a crossbow and shield simultaneously. This class can stand alone effectively in cooperative play or on its own, serving as a reliable front line.

In summary, magic is not an option due to its low effectiveness and weak spellcasting, and quick or flying opponents pose challenges. However, it boasts strong defense, though its effective range is rather restricted.

B-Tier characters in Elden Ring Nightreign

Recluse

Recluse lands in B-tier because while it can do everything, it doesn’t always do it well.

In this character, you have numerous choices for dealing elemental damage, strong resistance abilities, and an incredibly versatile set of tools, including both Sorceries and Incantations. The final skill, known as The Ultimate Art, proves invaluable in a wide range of scenarios.

This class is quite squishy, lacks power in close combat, and mastering its skills can be incredibly difficult – even the game offers three tutorials for Magic Cocktail. If you make a mistake with it, your Focus Points (FP) bar depletes completely. It’s a caster-oriented role, but requires great skill to survive faster battles without getting overwhelmed.

Revenant

Revenant drops into B-tier. She’s got amazing support potential, but not quite meta.

With a high Firepower (FP), dual spell enhancement, and the ability to summon spirits for distraction or healing, it seems powerful in cooperative play. However, its low Health Points (HP) and weak defense can quickly become an issue when used alone. It’s not designed for direct combat, and if your summons aren’t effective, you’re left vulnerable.

In a team setting, Revenant performs admirably, but operating alone, he may fall quickly compared to the speed at which he can summon abilities. It’s more advantageous to use him as a supporting character rather than the main protagonist.

Wylder

In the lower leagues, Wylder is a versatile fighter, known for his robust physical attributes and impressive strength growth. He possesses abilities such as Claw Shot for agility and Sixth Sense, which provides an advantage in evading death.

He excels at shattering positions with the Onslaught Stake, and his minimal Focus Point (FP) consumption ensures constant attacks. However, this also translates into fewer flashy abilities, and it’s crucial to remain near to inflict damage. This can be risky during late-game battles.

He is skilled at destroying stances with Onslaught Stake, and his low FP consumption keeps him attacking frequently. Yet, this also means he has fewer flashy skills, and you need to stay close for damage, which can be hazardous in later battles.

He’s competent across many areas, yet fails to stand out in any particular one. Given his current circle, this average talent level makes him somewhat unexciting.

C-Tier characters in Elden Ring Nightreign

Raider

Raider is more suited for the C tier, as it might seem appealing to have a tanky character with high damage output, but in reality, the damage inflicted doesn’t warrant the amount of punishment taken to activate its strong points.

His character tends to adopt a reckless playstyle, which often results in punishment rather than empowerment. He finds it challenging against swift or ranged opponents, and his Ultimate Ability, while beneficial, lacks the necessary power to compensate for the rest of his kit. It’s just too risky, inconsistent, and outperformed by other characters.
