Is CD Projekt Red Teasing A Big Announcement for Summer Game Fest?

It appears that CD Projekt Red could be unveiling something special at this year’s Summer Game Fest, based on a thrilling message hinted by Michal Nowakowski, one of the co-CEOs from the studio, on various social platforms.

After it was announced on May 29th that CD Projekt Red would be attending SGF, speculation among fans began to escalate dramatically.

“I see a bit of creative speculation in the comments section 🙂 Please remember that next week we are launching Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition on Nintendo Switch 2. So keep calm, etc ;)”

Initially, it may appear that the CEO is lowering fan anticipation, but quite the contrary might be true. The most revealing clue is that the Switch 2 version of Cyberpunk 2077 will be available before the next SFG event. So, what could they possibly unveil at this gathering concerning a game originally released in 2020?

As a dedicated fan, I can’t help but anticipate something grand, given the momentum built up so far. Most of us are speculating that it could be tied to the upcoming Witcher 4, where Ciri steps into the limelight as the protagonist, potentially replacing Geralt. This assumption stems from the initial teaser unveiled at The Game Awards last year, which seemed to hint towards this shift in focus.

Since the unveiling of the project’s trailer, there hasn’t been any new information about it. But, it’s also speculated that CD Projekt Red could present other games during Summer Game Fest. Interestingly, they announced a remake of The Witcher back in 2022, and since then, they’ve been largely quiet on the subject.

Indeed, the possibility of a Cyberpunk 2077 sequel can’t be entirely ruled out, but it’s more about hope than reality at this point. What’s less likely is CD Projekt RED announcing another massive AAA title before we even get a glimpse of gameplay for The Witcher 4.

Regardless, this event is sure to create anticipation for the Summer Game Fest. The grand events are scheduled to commence on June 6th. While it may not reach the same level of excitement as E3, it’s still expected to be an enjoyable experience.
