The series, which takes place within the Texas oil industry, was swiftly renewed for a second installment and commenced filming in April. Thornton mentioned that they aim to complete production by August. Regarding the direction season two will take, the leading actor expressed, “I found it fantastic. Taylor is well-acquainted with this show, he has a clear vision for it, so it’s quite straightforward. I didn’t anticipate reading it and think, ‘Let me hold on a minute.’ It was terrific.

In the second season, Sam Elliott will become a regular cast member – “It’s been fantastic, I’ve known Sam since the ’80s, so we have a long history,” Thornton expressed – and Andy Garcia will return with his character, who made a significant impact on the season finale. “Garcia will play a larger role this year without a doubt,” Thornton confirmed, also mentioning, “I’ve known Andy for a long time too, although this is our first project together.

Garcia remained cryptic about the details of season two, merely responding with “I’ll be there” and expressing his delight over the new scripts, stating they were “Simply beautiful. The writing is consistently powerful.

At the LA gathering, Ali Larter, Demi Moore, and Jacob Lofland were present alongside. Lofland, who plays Thornton’s son in the series, expressed that since the show’s success, it has been a significant change for him over the past eight months, saying “it’s a whole new life.” Furthermore, he mentioned that while filming season two, they are taking things slower to avoid heat exhaustion during Texas’ summer heat, and reading the new scripts has been nothing short of captivating, just like the first ones. Each time they receive Taylor’s scripts, it feels like picking up a book you can’t put down.

Moore returns in an elevated role for season two.

Michelle Randolph, who portrays Thornton’s on-screen daughter, has recently secured a part in the upcoming feature film “Malibu,” a horror thriller that Tod Williams is helming for Screen Gems.
