Emma Forrest’s Upcoming Novel ‘Father Figure’ Set for See-Saw Films Adaptation

See-Saw Films, a member of the Mediawan group, has acquired the rights to Emma Forrest’s forthcoming book titled “Father Figure“.

I’m excited to share that the book I’ve been eagerly anticipating will be brought to life on TV by Fanboy, under the guidance of executive producer Patrick Walters. After their successful run with the series Sweetpea on Sky Atlantic and the optioning of Harry Trevaldwyn’s Romantic Tragedies of a Drama King, Fanboy is now focusing on adapting Forrest’s captivating coming-of-age thriller. I can hardly wait to see it unfold!

The narrative revolves around Gail, a student on scholarship at the prestigious girls’ school Saint Saviours, who is restless, impulsive, and craving companionship. As per the plot summary, she’s at an age where she desires male attention and yearns for her mother to pick her up – a state that can be risky. Ezra, a man of wealth, influence, and achievement, is plagued by the recklessness of his past and worries about his daughter Agata. When Agata enrolls at Saint Saviours, Gail and Ezra’s lives intersect, triggering a series of events that prove to be far more perilous than either could have foreseen.

Additionally, Helen Gregory, Iain Canning, Emile Sherman, and Forrest herself will serve as executive producers for the series as well.

The term “Father Figure” represents the latest literary choice for See-Saw, following their acquisition of various works such as Benedict Lombe’s “Shifters“, Francesca Segal’s “Welcome to Glorious Tuga“, and a preliminary agreement with writer Ben Vanstone.
