The films directed by Steven Soderbergh, known for his dark comedy “The Christophers,” and Nia DaCosta, who helmed “The Marvels,” will have their global debuts at the Toronto Film Festival in September, as announced on Thursday by festival organizers.
In the film by Soderbergh, Ian McKellen, Jessica Gunning, Michaela Coel, and James Corden play roles as the offspring of a renowned artist who engage a counterfeiter to complete their father’s incomplete works, with the intention of selling them after his demise.

Toronto has revealed five global premieres for its Special Presentations category, with the opening being director Chandler Levack’s romantic comedy titled “Mile End Kicks“. This film, set in Montreal’s independent music scene in 2011, features Jay Baruchel and Barbie Ferreira. The latter portrays a 24-year-old music critic who relocates to the Canadian city.

It’s been announced that the documentary about Ryan Reynolds and Colin Hanks, named I Like Me, which is about John Candy, will open the 2025 Toronto festival on September 4. This film will be available on Amazon Prime.
The upcoming 50th Toronto Film Festival, taking place from September 4 to 14, will continue its tradition of presenting People’s Choice audience awards, including the selection of the overall favorite movie as a potential frontrunner in the awards season. What’s new this year is the introduction of an International People’s Choice Award.
