For many years prior to Martin Kove‘s controversial bite incident involving another actor, he was known for his rude and hurtful behavior towards a then-unknown actor. This individual recalled the experience as “extremely bizarre and mind-bending.” With renewed attention on Kove’s actions, this peculiar story has once again come to light.

Currently, it’s being mentioned both online and by The New York Post that Bill Hader, known for his role in ‘Barry’, had an unusual day with Ralph Macchio (Karate Kid star). In 1993, when he was just 20 years old and first arrived in Los Angeles, Hader took a job driving cast members to set locations. During an interview on Marc Maron’s WTF podcast in 2013, Hader recounted that one of his passengers was none other than Ralph Macchio. According to Hader, Macchio deliberately led him astray on the way to work as a way to buy extra time to read through the script that he hadn’t finished yet for the project.

Hader shared with Maron that he was navigating his not-so-great vehicle, and intentionally, his passenger led us astray,” said Hader. “That day turned out to be quite miserable.

Upon showing up late to the filming location along with the actor, Hader was sternly reprimanded by his superior, who he claimed shouted at him due to his tardiness. The comedian reminisced about having to chauffeur Kove home afterwards that evening, and during their drive on the freeway, Kove reportedly turned to him. This account was shared on a podcast.

“He was like, ‘Bill, are you mad at me?” the former Saturday Night Live player recalled.

As a way to make amends for getting my driving buddy in trouble with his boss this morning, I decided to treat him to a sweet treat from McDonald’s – specifically, a cookie and a milkshake. Unfortunately, despite picking up these treats, they didn’t quite end up in Hader’s hands. However, they did make it into our car upon my return from the restaurant.

After munching on a chocolate cookie and milkshake, he reappeared, casually inviting, ‘Let’s go.’ It was a brazen taunt, almost like a psychological jab, ‘I’ve got something you wanted, and now I’m enjoying it right in front of you.’ The silence that followed as I drove home was deafening.” (First person perspective of the gamer)

For Hader, the rude and awkward actions by Kove served as his less-than-ideal introduction to the world of Hollywood.

After that incident, Hader mentioned he no longer conversed with Kove. Instead, he focused on looking directly forward.

It’s uncertain whether Hader was apologized to for his past questionable actions, but during the podcast conversation with Maron, he mentioned that he has already forgiven Kove for the harsh rejection of the milkshake offer from 27 years prior.

Apparently, there were some personal issues with him, possibly a divorce, according to Hader. He could be very amiable, but for some reason, I seemed to upset him. I’m not entirely sure about the circumstances.

On Tuesday,  Kove issued an official apology to Hannah-Kim for the assault at the convention.

As a fervent admirer, I’m profoundly sorry and offer my sincere apologies for my behavior towards Alicia (Hannah-Kim) during the unfortunate incident that transpired. She is an exceptional individual, radiating kindness and grace, who truly does not deserve to be in this situation. In a moment of playfulness, I overstepped boundaries, and there’s no justification for my actions. I deeply regret my actions, taking full responsibility for my part in the incident, and once more, I extend my apologies to her and her husband. I am determined to learn from this experience, ensuring that such an occurrence never happens again.
