Universal Horror Unleashed’s Vegas Location Hasn’t Opened Yet, But Another One Is Already On The Way

Universal Destinations & Experiences is consistently pushing the boundaries when it comes to themed entertainment, not just within the US, but globally as well. This year marked the successful debut of Epic Universe, a cutting-edge theme park at Universal Orlando Resort. In addition, two more theme parks are underway – Universal Kids Resort in Texas is currently being built, while plans for a new Universal Studios park in the UK have been approved and are expected to open in 2031.

Not only that, but in approximately two months, Universal Horror Unleashed is set to debut. This exciting new experience will establish a permanent version of the popular Halloween Horror Nights event at Las Vegas’s theme park. Universal appears confident about its success, as they’ve already announced a second Horror Unleashed location in the Midwest.

Universal Horror Unleashed Is Coming To Chicago

As a passionate movie reviewer, I’m thrilled to share some exciting news! Universal Destinations & Experiences has announced that a second Horror Unleashed location is set to rise in the windy city of Chicago, Illinois. The proposed site will be situated on Chicago Avenue, where the old Tribune Distribution Center once stood.

While an official opening date hasn’t been revealed yet, considering the first Horror Unleashed was announced back in January 2023 and is due to open its doors on August 14, 2025, we might expect this new location to debut sometime around late 2027 or early 2028. Can’t wait to step into the realm of fear in the heart of Chicago soon!

It’s quite evident that Universal is quite certain the first Horror Unleashed location will be successful, as they’re already planning a second one before the first has even debuted. It’s no secret that Halloween Horror Nights is the star attraction at both Universal Studios Hollywood and Florida. The thrill people get from these themed horror attractions is hard to beat, and the only downside is that the event eventually comes to an end.

At Universal Horror Unleashed, visitors can enjoy heart-pounding terror whenever they desire! The inaugural venue in Vegas will feature homes dedicated to classic Universal Monsters, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Exorcist: Believer, and the fan-favorite original concept Scarecrow: The Reaping. These structures are designed for periodic replacement, so while it’s unlikely that the Chicago location would open with identical houses, they could have evolved by the time it does.

Universal’s Fast Expansion Is Great News For the Themed Entertainment Industry

To be honest, Horror Unleashed isn’t really my genre of choice. However, I must admit that I’m quite thrilled about the rapid expansion of Universal Horror Unleashed. This growth signifies a broader reach for top-notch themed entertainment, potentially fostering competition, increasing choices, and adding more locations worldwide.

The Horror Unleashed event will be held within Area15, an expansive themed entertainment complex that houses a variety of experiences such as Meow Wolf’s mind-bending Omega Mart and the John Wick Experience, where you can immerse yourself in Keanu Reeves’ character’s assassin world.

Previously this year, Universal Studios held its inaugural Fan Fest Nights, an event akin to Halloween Horror Nights but featuring non-horror intellectual properties such as Star Trek, Back to the Future, and Dungeons & Dragons. It’s intriguing if events like Horror Unleashed remain popular; if so, it might be feasible for locations not centered around horror to emerge as well.

After setting up two locations, there are still many parts of the country – not to mention the rest of the world – yet to explore. So, one might wonder if we’ll see additional Universal Horror Unleashed locations being constructed. Time will tell.
